This ain’t no photoshop job! Our sign is up in San Diego! Yup, you already know, on Convoy! 😎 no hiding it now! Haha We’re getting closer and closer to our THIRD location! What a surreal feeling to see our name standing tall on another building, so far away, especially because we are still such a small team. Small but mighty! Stay tuned for more updates as we bear our grand opening! My SD ppls, yall gonna show up for us??

Every weekend is a new family trek to find some greenery, or large body of water, or elevation. All preferably free 😬 Sometimes I wanna properly document/share our local explorations, but a short carousel will suffice for now. We’re able to do quite a variety within a one hour radius of our home (LA 🙌). Some more touristy, some more tucked away. Here’s the past month-ish: 1, 5: Frank Bonelli Regional Park, San Dimas 2-4: Happy Camp Rustic Canyon, Moorpark 6: Weir Canyon Trail, Anaheim Hills 7, 8: Kenneth Hahn Recreation Area, Baldwin Hills 9: Torrance Beach, Torrance 10: Griffith Park Observatory Who’s been to these?

Got to take the Toyota Mirai out for a day of work and it was so cool! #ToyotaAd I’ve never driven a hydrogen fuel cell car before and the powerful yet smooth ride felt extra good because the only emission from this vehicle is WATER! Plus all the technology helped me stay productive and comfortable while driving. I love a car that can help me operate at a higher level and the Mirai definitely delivers. If you’re looking for something different in an eco-conscious vehicle to elevate your daily drives, check out the @toyotausa #Mirai #LetsGoPlaces

My brain was screaming at me “DONT do it! YOU ARE FORTY!!” But I didn’t listen and now my neck is super pissed at me.💥😵 @wongfupro Team Retreat in Vegas had me feeling like a Wong Fu WeekEnNd, then I flew back for a Mofo Friday slanging boba to launch a new CPG product at this big food expo.

The audacity of this JITB right next door to us. 😜 Jokes aside, I actually think it’s pretty incredible that boba is mainstream enough now to be appearing in various American fast food/cafes. I could’ve never imagined this 10 or even 5 yrs ago. What IS unfortunate is how many ppl don’t know the cultural background of boba and think it’s just some weird trend. Ah well, net positive progress. 🤗

How it started 👉 How it’s going. Me and Bopomofo goes way back (who else had that poster in their childhood room?) I may have failed my Chinese school tests, but I think I learned just enough to make it a name of a cafe 😅. Yesterday was @bopomofocafe official 5 yr anniversary and I wanna say thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. To still have crowds outside our doors at multiple locations this many yrs in, is truly a blessing.. but it doesn’t happen by luck. I have so many amazing ppl on the Bopo team to acknowledge, from inside the kitchen, behind the bar, in our office.. the shift leads, baristas, cooks, veterans who saw us thru the depths of the pandemic.. Bopo stands because of you. To @jungene who has been Bopo’s rock through our biggest hurdles and our light in darkest times, thank you for believing in us. To @ewangus my cofounder, Bopo doesn’t exist without you. You shy away from the spotlight yet you shoulder the most. Thank you for everything you’ve sacrificed to allow us to be where we are and where we’re going. I hope I’ve made you proud to be your cofounder. And finally @hwuwu . Thank you for giving me strength and balance. Listening to my drama, pushing me forward in troubling times, being patient when I had to be at the cafe instead of at home. I’m sorry for all the additional stress I bring home, but I know it will be worth it. Look, we already have our little boy growing up with this place already existing 🤯 Alright that’s long enough. If you’ve read this far you probably have been reading along over the years of all the ups and downs so I won’t reiterate heh. Thank YOU for being our loyal guests, driving in traffic to us, flying to us, sharing us, and propelling us forward. Here’s to another 5 and more!

Went to my first luau ever thanks to @marriottwaikiki . The performances were amazing on their own but learning how the dances related to Native Hawaiian and Polynesian history was extra special. That woulda been enough for me but somehow I got pulled up on stage to be the finale. (I apologize to all the other guests 😅) Thank you to the talented musicians, dancers, and staff for taking care of us! Can’t wait to visit again! 🙏🤙

Sometimes I wish I could say what’s really on my mind about Asian Americans in Hollywood, but I think I’d rather keep my head low, focused and show you. For my entire career thus far, before I even knew it was a career, I’ve been trying to uplift our community’s stories and.. existence. I’ve seen so many chapters and seasons of Hollywood’s shift from avoiding us, to cautiously accepting us, to celebrating us when convenient. I’ve also seen Asian industry folks evolve in their own identity to adjust to Hollywood’s changing taste, both genuinely and opportunistically. For the most part, I’ve been on the sidelines, preoccupied with my own things, but observing what was going on on the traditional mainstream side. There’s so much to unpack and fix about where we are in this business on this spectrum of outlier success stories and unfortunate diminished potential. Let me make sure I’m clear though, we’re in SUCH a better place than we were even just 5 yrs ago (thx CRA 🙏😮‍💨) and I like to think in terms of “what’s the net positive” haha These days, I keep my thoughts and opinions generally to myself when it comes to the trade news because there’s so much nuance to these topics and I know most everyone in the business is trying their best. I often question both the creators and the corporations, but try to hold back judgement because who knows what I’d do in the same position.. but my overall takeaway is, I really can’t stay on the sidelines much longer. I need to go be the change that I want to see. Easier said than done. Harder to watch&wait than try.

Swipe for 18 years! 🤗 Had to go back and find the first pic I got with @danieldaekim when we first met in 2006 at the San Diego Asian Film Fest. What is life that almost 2 decades later we’re hanging out at my cafe, talking about his incredible career and most recent role in Avatar The Last Airbender, and sharing dad advice. 🤯 All I can say is that I’m super grateful.. we’re both still here lol. Back when we took that first photo, he had just started on Lost, and Wong Fu was premiering our student feature film! Oof, we been doing this a long time haha. Big thanks to @netflix for bringing back Spill the Boba Tea and making this special reunion happen. Shoutout the @wongfupro , @bopomofocafe & @netflixgolden team! Head to my bio link to watch the full episode!

Airbender 🤝 Summer I Turned Pretty 🤝 GenZ Bible? Is this some weird AI mashup? Nope, it’s just @wongfupro ’s latest video that is too perfect for its own good. 😂 The WF team is such big fans of ATLA that they couldn’t resist making their own vision/version of a live-action series. Watch the full sketch in the bio link! But fr fr, the actual premiere of the ACTUAL live-action series was amazing! Took the WF office’s biggest ATLA fan @mishmichelle to live out her airbending dreams, and I got to take pics with both the Father and Son of the Fire Nation. Weird to be on the dad’s side now. Wonder what that’ll mean for my prince! 🔥🔥

Collecting pictures with the Warrior cast over the years! I’ve been so hyped about this show ever since it came out in 2019, and now, after getting cancelled and revived and passed around different streamers the past 5 years it’s finally landed at Netflix for more people to watch and discover. It’s been my favorite show in recent years for a variety of reasons: • It depicts an era of the US history that has always erased Chinese from the narrative or pushed them to the side. To see Asian faces in this old west setting makes it actually feel like it’s super modern, even though it takes place in the 1800s. • It finally tells the story of Chinese Americans as part of America’s troubled past (typically white vs black), told from our perspective. • Martial arts is treated in a way that’s culturally and historically significant, which makes it so much more powerful & meaningful. • Other stereotypes like hyper-sexualized Asian women and emasculated Asian men are redefined and given depth in ways I’ve never seen on screen before because it’s going to the historical root of it all. • Various other topics are tackled like being a perpetual foreigner, Asian hate and bigotry being ingrained in American history/politics, and post-Civil War culture. Sad how relevant the show is in the present day. • It’s just a REALLY good show. Great stories, acting, costumes, action, and a look into a community’s history that’s never been shown or seen in at this level of production. Like, super COOL. I’ve never wanted to dress up as a cowboy but lemme get one of those Hop Wei suits!! This show is from Bruce Lee himself, but he never got the chance to make it in his era. Just like he was an underdog himself, so is this show, making it this far, 3 seasons in. Please give it a watch (even just putting it on in the background) so it can get good numbers and we can prove to @netflix that people want more of this show and want more Asian American stories! I’m not connected to this series at all (although I’d love to be).. I just wanna see it get its flowers. 🙌✊ (Last frame is what Ah Toy and Bruce’s spirit will do if you don’t watch! 💥)
