This is my reframe at the moment. I am actively reshaping my life and my mind so that hopefulness feels safe again. I want to dream big without being superstitious that dreaming jinxes the dream. I want to stop man handling my expectations for fear that high expectations equates to pain. I want disappointment not to feel like a great fall from a height, but a pain that quickly alchemizes into genius. I am at my most brilliant when I am faced with a problem. I truly believe that we as creatives, thrive when we’ve been told No. We are the strategists of this world, the imagination, the dreamers - this is where we thrive. I often feel like I have to do everything on my creative journey alone. It is a lie. But so many of my wins have come from when I said fuck it- I am not waiting for permission, I am doing this myself. And that has been SO powerful. Reclaiming control, declaring my creativity, and taking up space without being anointed or chosen by others. But I have noticed that because of the way this part of my journey has unfolded that I have been playing out a narrative that says this: I must do this on my own. No one is coming to help you. I think creatives get stuck in a binary trap, we are either waiting to be chosen, or refusing to believe that anyone will support us. I’ve bounced from one to the other. Now I want to, once again, find the divine and holy place in the middle, with the nuance, the subtly, the shades. We are meant to help one another on this journey. We are humans. We are meant to find support within each other. We are meant to lift each other up and back one another and champion each others art. I am open to being supported and held up by others, of being witnessed and seen by others. Of being offered help, and opportunities and magic. I am open to the help that comes from the many hands of God. (Us). I choose myself. I take up space however I like, but I am allowed to be helped and supported on the way.
