Plump sour cherry, forest floor, fresh tangerine. Tart plum, citrus blossom, young raspberry. A beautifully expressive yet unconventional fruit core highlighted by cranberry, huckleberry, and underripe nectarine prances with wild and juicy exuberance within a thoroughly animated and intriguing display. Notes of fennel, pine tree, and loose leaf black tea playfully impart streaks of lightly bitter natural tones interlaced with exotic spice hints of cinnamon, cardamom, and star anise. Wafts of sweet rose and hydrangeas expose well integrated floral lift pleasantly complicated by mild earthy impressions of cast iron and smoke. Charmingly pretty, crisp, and fresh on the palate while remaining surprisingly edgy and complex; exhibiting and interesting balances of forwardness and restraint within a refreshing and downright fun presentation. Barely medium bodied with moderate tannin backed by high acidity. This 2019 Chehalem Mountains Red Field Blend by Open Face Wines is a wonderfully unique and fascinating red from the Willamette Valley.
Although they are by far the two most widely planted grapes in all of Oregon, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris are virtually never combined together to form a singular wine. This bottling, crafted by Open Face Wines using a co-fermented field blend of 70% Pinot Noir/30% Pinot Gris sourced from with the Chehalem Mountains, is an intriguing and thought-provoking example of what can be created when Oregon's two most popular Pinots join forces. Crafted in a fresh, balanced, and easy-drinking style, this wine effortlessly spills tart and juicy berry and citrus fruits complicated by clean forest tones, lifted florals, whimsical spices, and subtle earthiness. It manages to clearly reflect distinct elements of both of its parts, and though different makes for a tremendously enjoyable drinking experience. Yum.

Chateau Angludet 2008 - a beautiful deep purple in colour, rich and full bodied and full of dark fruits with notes of cocoa. Seriously reasonably priced for what it was - on the cusp of the drinking window, buy it to drink now and you'll have a bargain.
'Deep purplish crimson. Fragrant, scented, complete – elderberries again. Very opulent but good freshness too and some very ripe tannins. Real zip on the finish. An admirably complete wine. Long. Perhaps a little less classical than some but very well sculpted.. Jancis Robinson

💷Average price £35 but depends on the vintage. Some wine merchants are selling off the 2008.
'Without doubt the best d’Angludet we have ever tasted, this 2008 certainly has the wow factor. The Sichel team knew how to make not just good wine but great wine from a tricky vintage. Extensive work in the vineyard more than paid off with superb quality fruit as the result. With a good depth of deep, dark fruit, ripe but very present tannins and a lovely, long fruity finish, d’Angludet’s 2008 is very impressive indeed - and at this incredible price it is a complete bargain to boot. Seriously good value!' www.bbr.com
