È finita anche da voi l'estate? 😅
🍷 Rosè Carignano del Sulcis - La Rocciosa
🍇 100% Carignano
What was your favorite moment of summer 2021? Mine was absolutely hosting so many of you at @thewineship event #WineAndWestCoastVibes back in August
The pool parties and Champagne weren’t so bad either!!! Shout out to @haute_swimwear for setting me up with this suit, too!
There’s lots more fun wine experiences on the horizon for Fall, so check out the schedule at www.thewineship.com!
Just one more week of summer remains! What are you doing with it?

“It is your work in life that is your ultimate seduction.” — Pablo Picasso
Not sure how I feel about this quote. Today, absolutely, yes. ❤️🍷 Before wine…🤔. Although, I suppose even before I was working in wine there are elements of this that are true. And once I found the passion for wine (travel, making, learning) it certainly seduced, creating a void that needed to be filled.
Seduction is a powerful force. Take this Alacrán Seducción Malbec, it entices with a subtle fruit-forward and floral nose and hints of spice, but really delivers its power on the palate. Dark plums, blueberries, raspberries and gripping tannins. Decant recommended, although the acidity does help to soften the tannins and enliven the intensity of the fruit.
And what of the label, well, that led me down a rabbit hole into the world of Aztec mythology and ultimately to an early Nahua version of the story of the flower and the scorpion - a cautionary tale of seduction and ritual.
In this version (and there are many), and as best I can unearth without heading to the library, Xochiquetzal, a temptress, seduces a man (her older brother of course) and as a result of his breaking a vow of chastity, he’s turned into a scorpion. But….she was fully intending to save humanity and through her act comes a cure for scorpion stings, as well as the assurance that man, who was supposed to be both powerful and deadly - but only by remaining abstinent - would continue to propagate. Power of seduction.
I’m not sure if that was the winery’s intention behind the label and naming here, but it certainly is fitting…
