An entrepreneur is a visionary that converts an idea into a business.
Intellectual identifies three traits:
1. Educated; erudition for developing theories;
2. Productive; creates cultural capital in the fields of philosophy, literary criticism, and sociology, law, medicine, and science, etc.
3. Artistic; creates art in literature, music, painting, sculpture, etc.
Those with the skills of critical analysis, investigation of social issues, and formulation of policy recommendations are what we call "intellectually curious." It is the intellectual's role to take an active role in politics of society, either as an active creator or as a passive mediator, by arguing for or against an issue, usually by rejecting or generating or extending an ideology and standing up for an ideology's core ideals.
A manager's job is at stake, whereas an entrepreneur's money is at stake.
Managers will work within the system, no matter how insane its rules and processes are.
One key difference that drives every other answer: Risk.
A manager has only his/her job at risk, and entrepreneur has his own money at risk.
