All brains are different, if something comes easily to others it doesn’t necessarily mean it will for you. It just means your process will look a bit different. Don’t let that dissuade you. There’s an amazing book inside you, just waiting to get out.
I used to write exclusively short stories and novellas. I always lost my flow by the end of a longer story. Adding in new details and storylines because my brain couldn’t stay focused. It strayed, and if I ever finished a book (which was not often) it was never satisfying. This created doubt in myself.
That has changed. Instead of focusing and stressing about the book as a whole, I do it chapter by chapter. And I’m excited for every chapter. It feels new, and fresh, and worthwhile.
I know I’ll be looking at a finished manuscript soon. There’s still doubt, but that’s all just in my head. And the more I prove that doubt wrong, the easier this task becomes. Splitting up chapters has helped with this immensely.
Let me know if this helps you or anything you do that helps keep you focused and interested in your manuscript!
Cheers 🥂
