Goods Shed Hunting. Back some 30 years ago this was a graveyard for Jaguars (that classic British marque, not the quadrupeds). Fat rusting hulks of automotive luxury littered this place; some were half-buried in the undergrowth. The yard has been cleaned up since my last visit, and I’m pleased to report that the old railway goods shed remains largely intact. The station was a quarter of a mile away, sandwiched between the river bridge and Usk Tunnel which still runs beneath the castle; it was too small an area to accommodate a goods yard. The line closed to passengers in 1955. Usk, Monmouthshire. So you know that I've been suffering with a poorly foot...It appears that my newish walking shoes don't quite suit my feet...how do I know? I walked this route (llanfoist crossing) in my daps and no pain...Then yesterday I walked down Gilwern end of the canal in my walking shoes and so much pain 😫 Moral of the story, get your feet fitted my friend for your walking boots! So I am off to Trekkit next week to sort myself out with a pair. Dead nosey now...what do you look for with your boots? #yourwales #beautifulwales #cymru #wales #walesadventure #exploringwales #visitwales #explorewales #lovewales #hikersofinstagram #walesphotography #Abergavenny #imagesofwales #amateurphotography #injuryrecovery #walkingwales #capturewales #walesneverfails #womenwhowalk  #epicfail #outdoorsismyhappyplace #breconbeacons #ordancesurvey #lovewhereyoulive #blackmountains #hikergirl #breconbeaconsnationalpark #monmouthshire #iamanidiot #monmouthshireandbreconcanal

. . #CurbAppeal . Monmouthshire, Wales, UK . In Welsh, Allt-y-bella means ‘the high wooded hillside of the wolf.’ An appropriate name for this renaissance farmhouse & gardens that belong to famed landscape architect Arne Maynard & his partner William Collinson. It’s this wooded hillside that becomes alive, particularly when the colours of autumn start shining through this hidden valley. I wonder if the farmhouse's exterior paint colour was chosen because it highlights the autumn colours & shapes so beautifully. . . . . . . . . Sitting in the Vale of Ewyas, along a long and winding back road that's more suited to horses than cars, Llanthony Priory is a stunning ruin that lies deep in a Welsh valley and is as secluded as you can get this side of Scotland. As an added bonus, there's a tiny old world hotel built into the side of the ruin which features a cellar bar incorporated into part of the priory's undercroft. Possibly my favourite place for a pint. #wales #explorewales #visitwales #discoverwales #ruin #ruined #historylover #historygeek #medieval #medievalarchitecture #walesadventure #beautifulwales #lovewales #walesphotography #cymruambyth #cymru #ruinedabbey #monmouthshire
