Continuing Negroni week, so much fun seeing all the great riffs people are putting out… question, how many is too many recipes to save and try??? This is a little riff inspired by our trip to Morocco and France… in 2019 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️. I’m calling it a Medjool Negroni, combining two of my favorite things, Cognac and dates! I absolutely love the deep flavors, dried fruits and depth Cognac has to offer and I’m not sure there’s anything better than snacking on dates… with cheese and charcuterie, the ultimate luxury! So, combining those two things I needed to balance up the bitter just a touch so I subbed in Punt e Mes to keep it bittersweet! Oh, beautiful layers of deep flavor with that delightful bitter finish, I might have to keep this one around past this week! Cheers all, what are your favorite riffs you’re seeing so far? . Medjool Negroni . 1 oz Cognac (@parkcognac Borderies) 1 oz Aperitivo (@leopoldbros ) 1 oz Punt e Mes (@puntemes_it ) 1 barspoon date syrup (@jooliesdates ) . Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled and lightly diluted. Strain into a rocks glass with a large cube. Garnish with a delicious Medjool date! And the Negroni riffs just keep rolling! How about a Negroni Sour? Because, well I don’t actually have a reason, but something about the flavor profile with that silky smooth classic sour mouthfeel, it just feels right! With this version I focused on highlighting the citrus. I chose a citrus forward gin from Nikka, that classic Campari citrus, and Carpano Antica Formula for my vermouth… the additions were 1/2 oz Lemon juice to interact with the egg white, and 1/4 oz lemon oleo saccharum to balance it all out (still bitter but more to the Negroni balance). So, on this Thirsty Thursday/Friday Junior in the midst of Negroni Week, cheers to a mashup of two classic sips! . Lemon Negroni Sour . 1 oz Citrus forward gin (@nikkawhiskyusa ) 1 oz Campari (@campariusa ) 1 oz Sweet Vermouth (@carpanoantica ) 1/2 oz lemon juice 1/4 oz lemon oleo saccharum 1 egg white (or aquafaba) . Add all ingredients to a shaking tin without ice and dry shake for 30 seconds. Add ice and shake medium to chill and dilute, about 10 seconds. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass. By @stirredovershaken It's definitely been a while since I posted a drink. The last months have been some of my most intense ones in my career so far, so my focus wasn't really on instagram haha. However, that doesn't mean that I stopped designing drinks of course😏 The last few months have also been some of my most productive ones, including a whole new menu of tastiness at @sal_ams . 🇦🇷 So since @negroniweek will soon be upon us, I feel it wouldn't be right if I didn't lead with our "Negroni-style" drink as the first drink I post.🔥 Now as some of you know, I'm not a massive fan of twisting Negronis🥃. For me the original is nearing perfection as it is and there are so many cocktails that are related to it, that the waters are a bit muddy as to what is still considered a Negroni 🌊. So I decided to bypass this minefield by going after it's close relative: The Cardinale. Using dry vermouth instead of sweet vermouth, it's character is a bit more spritely and bright. Making it a perfect vessel to twist and load up with all kinds of flavours that shout summer to me🏝. Definitely a personal favourite of mine on the current menu at @sal_ams , this is the: "Peaches & Cream" Cardinale 🍸 @thebotanistgin 🍊 @campariofficial 🥂 @lillet Blanc & @pietronicola_official Pescaro 🍑 Grilled Peaches 🌼 Dried Chrysanthemum and Cornflowers 🍇 Smoked & Salted Inca Berry tincture 🍫 White Chocolate Ganache (for fatwash) Floral - Indulgent - Bittersweet Served in a frosted little Nick&Nora, painted with the best byproduct ever, that shall henceforth be known as Negroni Ganache 🍯 "Peaches & Cream", you know, like a Negroni, just sexier.
