📍Utvrda Veliki Tabor 🇭🇷
Wherever I go, I Rome… even in Croatia!
Now, at first glance, you probably thought that this was the Colosseum in Rome because A. it looks just like the Colosseum and B. in real time, I was just at the Colosseum in Rome yesterday. This magnificent ancient arena is called Pula Arena and it is located in the city of Pula on the Istria Peninsula of the northern coast of Croatia. It is known as one of the best preserved Roman amphitheaters that is still used today, but for less brutal gladiator events (it’s now used for concerts, public meetings and other events). Pula Arena was constructed sometime between 27 BC and 68 AD. It was originally built with timber and replaced with stone later on. Definitely visit this spot during your time in Istria and I highly recommend seeing it during sunset like we did. Also, our Airbnb was located right behind the Pula Arena and there was nothing like waking up to this Ancient Roman wonder out your window! Now tell me, which photo do you like best of mine: 1, 2 or 3? #pulaarena#pulacroatia#visitpula#croatiafulloflife#romanhistory#visitcroatia#visitistria#shareistria#ancientarchitecture#croatiapostcards
