I was covered in Vaseline, Gatorade, and salty sweat in this photo. I had stomach cramps, spasming muscles, and was pretty sure I was losing a toenail. I went through so many different emotions during this year’s @chimarathon and wanted to back out for more than half of the 26.2 miles. What stands out for me the most, though, is the joy I felt at the starting line, seeing @colleen.varley and @meprzezd at mile 25, and watching @kelsey.korragsd finish her first marathon 🙌
It wasn’t a PR day for me but I’m closer to knowing what I’m capable of and I’ll be back for more 🏃🏼♀️
The path to success is never linear. The very definition of what success is will be different for anyone you ask, and that definition can be as fluid to you as your path.
Things change. Needs change. People change.. people grow.
Having high expectations of yourself is amazing, you keep yourself accountable and work hard. But high expectations shouldn’t mean expedited timeline.
Have high expectations. Set those high goals. You can do it.. they just take time.
It’s so easy to get caught up in a certain picture in your mind of where you should be by now and get frustrated when you’re not where you thought you’d be. We have ALL been there.
Remember there is no timeline. For your goals, to be your definition of “successful”, for life.
There’s no timeline and no penalty to start all over again whenever you need to.
Be gracious with yourself. Remind yourself where you started and how far you’ve already come, and that this is your own beautiful journey and story to write.
Patience has always been a difficult skill to master for me, so these were some thoughts I’ve had this week for myself too 🙃
