“I’m motivated by the resilience and beauty of my community, culture and the places we call home. So much of my culture lies in the ecology of the Caribbean, and other coastal regions. Those places and people are now under significant threat, so I hope to save as much as I can by pushing for effective climate policies,” says Kwolanne, who was born in Haiti and grew up in Miami.

@theopedproject . She spoke at the United Nations headquarters this year and at COP27, where she discussed Black women’s experiences with reproductive health and the climate crisis.
“My work focuses on gender-responsive climate policies. As countries build out their frameworks towards mitigation and adaptation, my goal is to assure they’re considering gender and intersectional experiences.
We have the power of seeing a beautiful vision of what the world can be, and the audacity to demand it. Young people are at the forefront of climate advocacy because we know the world can be better, and we are dedicated to making that a reality.”
