We’re extremely saddened by the sudden passing of our long time club member, Paul Aldrich. His passing is not only a huge loss to our club, but the entire hot rod world. We’ll miss you dearly, Paul ❤️🏁
Doesn’t get much cooler than this! Exactly 70 years ago today, Domenic InFerrera sent this letter to the officers of the still relatively new Ty-Rods club requesting to become a member. Dom was 18 when he wrote this letter. Starting at 15 he was tagging along with the club, and even earned the job of flag man at the Sanford drags. Dom is 88 now, and is still a very active member of the club. @tyrodscc

The letter reads: I would like to join the Ty-Rods club because I am very much interested in Hot Rods. I never did have much chance before, but I have good hopes in having my car made this summer. I am now building a 31 convertible roadster. I have always been interested in the club ever since it had started, and now hope to be a member of the club. - Domenic InFerrera

We regret to inform you of the passing of Ty-Rods member Al Maurer. He passed away peacefully on April 23, and was laid to rest today.

Al has always been around cars, and always held a keen interest in them. He often described the moment he caught the hot rod bug was when he spotted a custom ‘37 Ford Convertible parked outside of Healer motors in Watertown in the early ‘50s. It turned out to be local “No-Mad” Peter Seferian’s car. Al ended up with a job at Healer, and spent his free time with Peter and his friend Bob Magane building Peter’s olds powered roadster. Many years later in 1998, Al was sponsored into his first hot rod club, the Ty-Rods, by his old hot rod buddy Bob Magane. Rest easy, Al, we’ll miss ya! 🏁

On February 8th, the great Joe “Alibaba” Salami passed away. Joe was an early hot rodder and drag racer out of Boston, who never lost his love of cars. He remained active in hot rodding and was still working daily up until his passing.

Joe never missed an Old Timers night or our summer picnics, and has been a life long best friend of our own Tom Clancy. We’ll miss ya Joe!!! ❤️
