Tumble turns, or flip turns as they’re called in the US.
I still remember learning them when I was maybe 8 years old. How scared I was to hit my head on the wall, how sometimes the water would go up my nose, and how sometimes I’d just miss the wall completely having misjudged when I needed to turn or I’d come off it wonky. And I remember my dad saying you just have to keep trying, every time just try and you’ll get better. And I did. If you swim freestyle in the pool and you don’t know tumble turns yet please learn - it will totally change your experience of swimming.
The last months I was swimming with my nieces and teaching them tumble turns, so fun. Especially when they transformed into breakdancing tumble turns. Children have such a great way to make things more interesting and fun - the objective isn’t always speed or efficiency.
Thank you so much
@superennyphoto for having the inspiration and desire to shoot this. It was SO fun being in the Olympic pool with you - even if I did have to do the turns more slowly lololo they’re supposed to be fast 😂😂😂
