With brightly coloured bills and unmistakeable black and white plumage, these beautiful birds are affectionately known as ‘clowns of the sea’.
Typically they spend around six or seven months at sea before returning to their colonies to breed. They arrive in Scotland in late March or early April - and we can’t wait to welcome them back!
But where can you spot them?
The best places are, of course, coastal meaning that you could see them in the likes of Orkney and Shetland, the Isle of May, Fidra and St Kilda.
Have you been lucky enough to see these wonderful birds in Scotland? 🪶
