SUBURBAN PINES-
It’s a very grey day in the south west of uk. But this is my grey day track. It’s actually all about the unexpected colours of life that can emerge from things that can appear grey or ordinary. It’s even the opening line! This song was written in lockdown and is full of snapshots of my life up until that point. It’s deliberately one story after another, and allowing for a lyrical overload, because life can feel, and be received like that. And I wanted the journey of the song to feel like the journey of life.

FAIRY FALLS -
There’s always a track that seems to arrive at the very last minute. In the case of the “summer isles” it was “fairy falls”. Previously it’s been tiger striped sky or lullaby love, both came just before recording, but it always feels like a bonus gift!
This song is about a place I went when I was younger, I’ve always loved canyons, wild pools and waterfalls. I was reliving the memories ✨

LETTER TO THE BOY -
This song was among the first to come on “the summer isles”. I had this image of an excited kid standing on a moon shaped beach at night looking out at storm clouds, unsure of how to feel, full of youthful exuberance but also trepidation at the scene before him. This led me to Scotland where I’d seen similar beaches and scenery, and I did a very memorable trip up there with friends and recorded the song with @samuelglazebrook . It’s a small reflection on the conundrums of life in all its paradoxical beauty! X

“OUR TIME”
Hello 👋 hope you’re all having a great start to new year! I’ve got a warm fuzzy excitement about this one.
I remember when I wrote this song, all about the tides of time, things behind, things ahead and to be excited by, and ever present things to be grateful for.
So it felt fitting, on this beautiful winter afternoon, to share this one at the start of this year 💫
