Increasing representation at the #RecordingAcademy is an ongoing effort.
Black representation in our membership and at the #GRAMMYs is increasingly improving. Our recent New Member Class at the Recording Academy, showed our members are 50% people of color, including 28% being Black or African American.
The work continues as we aim to reflect the music community that conributes to the music industry at large. #FlippingTheRecord
The #RecordingAcademy is a non-profit that uses the momentum from the #GRAMMYs to support music creators through our GRAMMY Advocacy efforts at the local, state, and national level. 🎶
#MuniLong and Ryan Butler, VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, discuss the advocacy work we do protect music makers’ rights, and the importance of being a Recording Academy member as a way to support fellow creators and ensure that future and current creators have their voices heard. #FlippingTheRecord
From celebrating music creators at the #GRAMMYs to supporting music creators through music advocacy and #MusiCares , the #RecordingAcademy champions artists in various ways. 🌟
Through GRAMMY Advocacy, the #RecordingAcademy advocates for artists’ rights throughout the year. Through #DistrictAdvocate Day and #GRAMMYsOnTheHill , we ensure pro-music legislation is championed and artists’ voices are heard.
Through @MusiCares , music people in need, regardless of Recording Academy membership, can receive physical, mental health, and financial support. MusiCares’ Humans of Hip-Hop also focuses on outreach and engagement with the hip-hop and Black community to ensure they’re supported. #FlippingTheRecord
Did you know the #RecordingAcademy is much more than just the #GRAMMYs ? ✨
The Recording Academy puts on the GRAMMY Awards each year, but it is a non-profit organization that uses the funds generated from the GRAMMYs to fund important initiatives supporting the music community throughtout year, including efforts related to music advocacy, @GRAMMYU , @ProdEngWing , @SongCompwing , and #BlackMusicCollective .
Our VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Recording Academy, Ryan Butler, sheds some light on the misconception through a conversation with #MuniLong . #FlippingTheRecord
