Here's the next in my series of Salt Water Weapons (that also harm ghosts) 👻🤺 The Conch The unusual shape of this weapon causes many to argue whether it is a sword, an axe, or a spiked mace (for game mechanics in the Inconvenient Truths RPG, it can be wielded effectively by a character with a Melee skill of Sword, Axe, or Blunt, depending on how they interpret the thing). It’s a Water Thing This ancient weapon was created by a primitive culture of Goblins who believed in the old adage of “Fire fire with fire” or in this case “Fight water with water”. The massive conch shell had been worked and warped through magical means into a fierce and intimidating weapon which became a powerful symbol in their culture as it helped them fend off attacks from aquatic Pogsemineak villages that cropped up over the years and threatened their territory. Intimidating Presence Merely carrying this weapon in plain sight grants the character a bonus of +1 to their intimidation checks (+2 when attempting to intimidate aquatic creatures who will naturally fear the thing whether they’ve heard of it or not). Damage Regardless of which weapon type the user thinks it is, the wielder gains a bonus of +2 to damage and attack rolls, increasing to +4 damage when fighting aquatic creatures. Because the original conch shell was formed in salt water, this weapon is also capable of damaging ghosts and spirits (but not astral creatures), though it does not gain any bonuses to attack, defend against, or damage them. . #magicitem #magicweapon #sword #mace #axe #ghost #roleplaying #roleplayinggame #newgame #RPG #gamer #gaming #newRPG #illustrator #plusoneforshowingup #inconvenienttruths #writer #gamedesign #gamedesigner #newproject #acceptance #personalpower #storytelling #dicegames #goblins #Ilovegoblins #goblin❤️ #sourcebook #community

Forged by Elven magic, this beautifully ornate coral dagger was created for a master assassin who wanted to be able to kill anything they might be contracted to take out. They amassed a huge arsenal of weaponry, each created with a specific species or foe type in mind. Carrying this blade grants the wielder night vision and the ability to hold their breath for 5x longer than normal. It has a damage bonus of +2 damage vs aquatic creatures, and as an unintended side effect, the salt water coral that was used in the creation of this dagger allows the weapon to damage ghosts and spirits (but not astral creatures), though it does not gain any bonuses to attack, defend against, or to damage them. *I dreamed about a bunch of salt water weapons recently and when I woke up, I realized that they'd all be able to affect spirits because of their high salt content. 🤷‍♂️ Check out my recent post about the Salt Blades. There are two more weapons coming soon! . #roleplaying #roleplayinggame #newgame #RPG #gamer #gaming #newRPG #illustrator #plusoneforshowingup #inconvenienttruths #writer #gamedesign #gamedesigner #newproject #acceptance #personalpower #storytelling #dicegames #goblins #Ilovegoblins #goblin❤️ #sourcebook #community #magicweapon #magicitem #coral #salt

Nobody remembers the original name of these weapons, so most land dwellers just call them The Salt Blades. They are a collection of five daggers, and three swords that were magically created by an ancient aquatic species, formed from natural sea salt deposits. Only 8 were ever made (and only 7 survived), however, while they hold no special significance when used on concert with each other, there are some collectors that would give great sums (or do terrible things) to own them all. Magically enchanted to be virtually unbreakable, and suffering no resistance when wielded underwater, the salt blades inflict extra an extra +2 damage from their abrasive surface, and extra pain from the reaction of salt in the wound which causes a slight, but sudden dehydration in the area of the cut as it leeches water from the blood. If there is any benefit to the victim of an attack made with a Salt Blade, it is that the wound won’t continue bleeding, and thus, they won’t suffer any recurring damage from blood loss. The Salt Blades are also capable of damaging spirits, inflicting their normal damage against ghosts and other spirits (but not astrally projecting beings). Spirits cannot be killed in this way, though it definitely hurts them and can dispel them for a while (up to 1 hour). . #roleplaying #roleplayinggame #newgame #RPG #gamer #gaming #newRPG #illustrator #plusoneforshowingup #inconvenienttruths #writer #gamedesign #gamedesigner #newproject #acceptance #personalpower #storytelling #dicegames #goblins #Ilovegoblins #goblin❤️ #sourcebook #community #homebrew #magicweapons

I did it! It’s finished! I managed to sneak it in just under the wire of my #ValentinesDay deadline. And today began Phase Two of the Goblin Sourcebook! 👏 As you all know, #Ilovegoblins and no matter what happens from here on in, I am very proud of how this has turned out 🥰 And I am so excited to continue writing and #worldbuilding for the Inconvenient Truths RPG! I love goblins, but I love you and this incredible community even more! ❤️ I am so thankful for all of the friendships and support here! You are all such an inspiration, and I hope that I can reciprocate and support you all in return somehow. 🙏 I wish you all a very happy day, no matter what you get up to! . #inconvenienttruths #inconvenient #rpg #roleplayinggames #ttrpg #tabletop #rpggame #newgame #plusoneforshowingup #newrpg #gamer #writer #storyteller #dicegames #acceptance #personalpower #rpgart #fantasyart #illustration #artistsoninstagram #goblins #i❤️goblins

The Eury are ghostly creatures from Goblin myth, deadly hunters capable of breathing a terrible mist on their prey and turning them to stone before eating the victims, now untethered, soul. A Goblin believes that they cannot reunite with their god, Y’Keehaa’chk, if their soul is taken, and being devoured by a Eury (or any soul stealing power) is the worst possible fate that one can endure. The Eury resembles a floating, ghostly reaper-like apparition, and is believed to be unkillable. The only way to defeat a Eury is banishment, and even then, it is only a temporary solution. When they single out a creature to feed upon, the Eury seems to disappear from the vision of every other creature except its unlucky prey. This makes them hard to stop if anyone were to try to save the poor creature. To onlookers, the only obvious sign of its presence will be the target’s actions and the moment when the target begins to turn to stone. Once that process is complete, the Eury begins to feed on the soul of the victim, and in doing so, begins to reappear. This, fortunately for the survivors at least, is when the Eury is at its most vulnerable and most easily banished. When more than one Eury is present, they tend to ignore each other, and rarely, if ever, fight between themselves unless it’s over a particularly taste meal. Luckily, Eury are a thing of myth. Probably. *** This concludes the Bullyfrog, Eury Vine Snake, and Eury series. When I create new creatures, I really love to tie them into the culture and lore of the area. I hope that you enjoyed this brief journey into the Goblins of the Inconvenient Truths RPG! More is coming soon! . #Worldbuilding #Lore #roleplaying #roleplayinggame #newgame #RPG #gamer #gaming #newRPG #illustrator #plusoneforshowingup #inconvenienttruths #writer #gamedesign #gamedesigner #newproject #acceptance #personalpower #storytelling #dicegames #goblins #Ilovegoblins #I❤️Goblins #goblin❤️ #sourcebook #community

How far would you go for your favourite meal? The Miir Goblins LOVE to eat Bullyfrogs, however, several factors prevent this from being a regular meal. 🐸 Firstly, a single ‘red’ Bullyfrog can leave even a well prepared Goblin a beaten, bloody mess. Furthermore, you will never encounter just a SINGLE Bullyfrog! 🐸 Secondly, it must be killed quickly before it can trigger its toxic adrenaline surge. Once triggered, the adrenaline not only makes the meat taste terrible, it also poisons any creature that eats it. It’s not deadly, but it’s about as fun as being left as a beaten, bloody mess. This has lead to the Goblins tracking down a special breed of reptile, the Eury Vine Snake (through trade, capture or breeding) capable of poisoning, and paralyzing the Bullyfrog before it can “go red”. “Green means clean” is a common Goblin phrase for when a Bullyfrog is killed before it can activate it’s toxic adrenaline rush. The Eury Vine Snake is named after a ghostly creature from Goblin myth, capable of breathing on it’s victims and turning them to stone before eating the victims, now untethered, soul. This particular breed of vine snake was named after the Eury for it’s potent poison that paralyzes it’s victims before the snake swallows them alive. Goblin hunters release a group of Eury vine snakes into a known Bullyfrog bog, and let nature run it’s violent course. After the attack, the Goblins swoop in and grab as many “clean” Bullyfrogs as they can without angering the Eury vine snakes, or upsetting more Bullyfrogs. Though, honesty, it never runs as smooth as that. Many lives are lost, and stomachs turned, during a Bullyfrog hunt. The Eury Vine Snake is part of a series of posts aiming to expand the Goblin world in the Inconvenient Truths RPG. Stay tuned for more! . #inconvenienttruths #inconvenient #rpg #roleplayinggames #ttrpg #tabletop #rpggame #newgame #plusoneforshowingup #newrpg #gamer #writer #storyteller #dicegames #acceptance #personalpower #rpgart #fantasyart #illustration #artistsoninstagram #Ilovegoblins #I❤️goblins #goblins #fantasycreature #worldbuilding #frogs #snakes

“Woe be to the adventurer that finds themselves in Bullyfrog bog! Tread carefully and with purpose. Red means RUN!” Red means run. The common advice given to those who may find themselves in the bog of the bullyfrog. These amphibious reptiles (resembling a large Triadobatrachus from the early Triassic period, which is to say that it looks like a salamander and a frog has a baby the size of a large watermelon) have several natural abilities that make them a terror for the unprepared adventurer. Even more unfortunate, is the fact that they tend to live in large numbers and are very territorial, making them aggressive ambush predators. At rest, and in full contentedness, the bullyfrog’s chameleon-like ability shifts their skin tones from their usual leafy green to match their environment. Combined with their penchant for digging themselves into cooler spots, a Bullyfrog at rest is virtually invisible. If you’re lucky enough to spot a green one, you might just get out of there without any injuries. If you see a red one, well, you should know by now. Red Means Run! Perhaps the most dangerous ability of the Bullyfrog happens when they turn red. When the Bullyfrog feels threatened, by large prey or hunters, their body releases a bioluminescent, toxic adrenaline that shifts their skin almost completely red, and with a faint glow, causing their muscles to grow and triggering a violent reaction towards their enemies. When a Bullyfrog “goes red”, their strength increases, as does their reaction time. These increased attributes allow them to leap into and through the tree branches to reach their targets as needed. They are capable of delivering a severe beating to whatever was threatening them, but rarely chase an interloper beyond the borders of their bog. The Bullyfrog is just the beginning of a series of posts aiming to expand the Goblin world in the Inconvenient Truths RPG. I’m looking for opinions! 🙏 Does it bother you when you’re reading about a made up, fantasy realm, and they mention creatures or characters from our own worlds mythology? Or do you like those kinds of connections to our world? As an example, say, you read about a simple creature called The Medusa Snake, and it has poison that paralyses it’s prey. As a reader, we understand why the name fits, but do we need to explain why the name is used in a completely different world that never had our stories? Would that disconnect bother you? Would you consider it lazy that the writer didn’t take the time to create a new creature to reference? Am I overthinking this? 😜 ✏️ (For the record, I’ve already created a whole new creature reference and name, which I will post soon! I’m just curious about your thoughts on these things) 🐍 Let me know in the comments below! . #inconvenienttruths #inconvenient #rpg #roleplayinggames #ttrpg #tabletop #rpggame #newgame #plusoneforshowingup #newrpg #gamer #writer #storyteller #dicegames #acceptance #personalpower #rpgart #fantasyart #illustration #artistsoninstagram #mythology #writing #overthinking

I’ve been brushing up on the mysterious manuscript that somehow made its way into our world. Written by Covinn Erroll (two N’s, two R’s, two L’s), they seem to describe many features, both physical and cultural, of the inhabitants of an entirely new world! Perhaps in learning and understanding more about these incredible species and their magical world, we may one day - dare I hope? - meet them? If Covinn’s book somehow made it here, then, who knows what else we might encounter! So go ahead and ASK ME ANYTHING about the Goblin species! Curious about these loveable little Goblike, and what makes them tick? What their favourite meals are and what sharing food means to them? And how is it that no matter how geographically distant they are, ALL Goblins worship the exact same deity? Get to know the Goblins, and ask me anything! If I don’t know the answer, I’ll make it up! I’m currently writing a Goblin sourcebook that can be used in ANY gaming system! And I hope to release it on February 14th! That’s right, Valentines Day! Why Valentines Day? Because I LOVE GOBLINS! And I know you do to! ❤️ Follow me to find out more! The beautiful Goblin in this image was created with Nightcafe AI. And I love her so much! . #inconvenienttruths #inconvenient #rpg #roleplayinggames #ttrpg #tabletop #rpggame #newgame #plusoneforshowingup #newrpg #gamer #writer #storyteller #dicegames #acceptance #personalpower #rpgart #fantasyart #illustration #artistsoninstagram #Ilovegoblins #I❤️goblins #goblins #AMA #askmeanything #worldbuilding

It's been a hot minute since I posted something (what is a "hot minute", anyway?) So here a quick update. a) sadly, we put our beloved dog down not too long ago and it really 🤬 hurts! Still. This creature post was inspired by my pup. b) In the Inconvenient Truths RPG, there is a mechanic called Support. I wont get into the details here, but you need to know that it exists for the purposes of this creature, The Shepherd. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Shepherds Shepherds are tiny spirits that many will talk about but few believe in. And even fewer are lucky enough to gain the support of one. “You must be surrounded by Shepherds!” might be said of one whose luck or prosperity seems constant. Or, “Where’s a shepherd when you need one?” if a character is feeling down. Shepherds appear as wispy, fluffs of fur that tumble through a house, or a campsite, as they provide subtle support for other creatures that they take a liking to. It’s possible that a Shepherd can adopt a creature, and if so will stick with them (and possibly their family) for life. Any Support given to a Shepherd is returned in kind (gain a benefit of Support without spending it). The character must believe that it is there, even if they can’t see it. The Shepherd can also restore Support to a creature once per day, if the effect above is not used. In addition, a Shepherd can use a point of Support in aid of a creature that it has bonded with for a story-related effect, i.e. cause a minor distraction/fluffy fly by that delays the actions of another creature just enough to cause a fumble, or prevent a ‘knee jerk’ reaction from an angry person, ultimately, and hopefully, delivering a better outcome for their chosen person. Shepherds move of their own volition, but can be moved easily if they aren’t resisting. They won’t respond to anything resembling training, and prefers to just tumble around, hide in random corners, and to do it’s own thing in ways that benefit others. Shepherds can’t be communicated with in any known language beyond sharing Support for one another. **A little bit more in the Comments **

Purrrl … When Purrrl’s creator realized that their knitting hobby was getting expensive, they turned to a life of crime to help support it (as one typically does). Soon after, they were able to commission this short sword to aid in their criminal activities. Abilities: So. Much. Yarn! 🧶 The handle is wrapped in colourful yarn with a cute “cats head” pommel. If the cats head is pulled out, a seemingly endless amount of yarn is pulled out with it. This yarn can be used as a garrote cord, a grappling cable, or, when tied to an object and the sword is cast into a secondary object, it can act as a tightrope between two points. It does not, sadly, confer the ability to walk on a tightrope. This yarn can be retracted into the sword handle with a simple flick of the wrist. Clean as a Whistle! 🚿 No matter how much blood or dirt gets on this weapon, it remains as clean and shiny as the day it was made! Not only would an inspection of such a cute and colourful blade fail to register as an obvious ‘murder weapon’, it grants its wielder a bonus towards appearing to have a clean reputation. “It’s cute! It’s clean! It’s a CAT!! C’mon!” Slip Stitch 🔓 Tucked under the yarn wrapped around the cross guard, are two small knitting needles. When the wielder of this weapon is bored, they are able to pull yarn out of the handle (as per the So Much Yarn ability) to knit to pass the time. These needles also make excellent lock picks, which grant a bonus when used in that fashion. … Did you catch all of the knitting references?! List them below if you did! . #inconvenienttruths #inconvenient #rpg #roleplayinggames #ttrpg #tabletop #rpggame #newgame #plusoneforshowingup #newrpg #gamer #writer #storyteller #dicegames #acceptance #personalpower #rpgart #fantasyart #knitting #purl #knit #wool #swordtember2022 #sword #cat #purr
