The hidden drawers need a flush pull which requires a round mortise. I don’t have the required drill bit so I designed and 3D printed this jig. It hooks over the corner of the drawer and perfectly centers the mortise. I clamp it down then use a pattern bit to route the mortise. Before printing this jig, I printed a few test circles to make sure I had the exact fit required. #woodworking #parillaworks

I always try to incorporate a continuous grain across my drawer fronts. These are probably my 2 favorite drawer fronts of the 36 on this cabinet! #woodworking #parillaworks

A glimpse at how the two different drawers will work. The bottom one has a taller front and will sit in front of the top, smaller drawer. The smaller one will be recessed on the cabinet by about 1”. #woodworking #parillaworks

Here are the sides, backs, and fronts of the 36 drawers. 144 parts. I’ll be using 4mm dominos for these. The sides/backs are butternut and the fronts are walnut. #woodworking #parillaworks

The cabinet is at the “rough finished” stage which means it’s done except for edge and surface clean up. There are 36 drawer cubbies but only 18 will show, that’s why some of the rows are recessed. Time to focus on the drawers! #woodworking #parillaworks

The most stressful part of this project is successfully behind me now! I used a mix of slow set epoxy and regular wood glue. #woodworking #parillaworks

The cabinet is almost ready to be glued together. Today I prepped the inner faces with 2 coats of finish. I masked off any glue surfaces with blue tape. The 3rd pic is all of the drawer material I milled yesterday….lots of drawers! Oh and the last picture shows the finish I used. It’s an oil modified water based polyurethane. Great product. My shop helper mixed it up for me! #woodworking #parillaworks

Last night I routed the 60 dados needed for this large cabinet. I cut the jig out on the CNC. It lets me route the dados on opposing faces that line up perfectly. Some of the dados are stopped which will be necessary for the ‘hidden’ drawers. #woodworking #parillaworks

Getting to this point is always a little checkpoint for me. This is the foundation of the cabinet. The dominos were a bit tight so I didn’t close the joints on the top but everything seems to be lined up nicely so far. #woodworking #parillaworks

I got some work done late last night on this walnut apothecary cabinet. These are all of the verticals: two side case pieces and 5 vertical dividers. I like to do butt joints for these because I can cut these pieces to the exact same length and not worry about sizing against a dado/rabbet. #woodworking #parillaworks
