We are still here. 👋🏼
Just realized it’s been over a month since I last posted. January and February are my busiest months at work, and I’ve been putting in a lot of extra hours on nights and weekends. Things should finally start to settle down in about a week.
I’ve forced myself to pass on a couple of opportunities to bring home new fosters because there just hasn’t been any room on my plate since the last group left. I should be available for new fosters in a few more weeks though… just in time for kitten season.
Hope everyone is well! ❤️
It’s so cold outside. It’s currently -1° with a -20° windchill here. Thankfully, these girls are warm and cozy inside! I hate imagining them trying to survive outside had they not been found and brought to the shelter. Their chances would not have been good. It breaks my heart knowing that there are many others out there that are not so lucky.
The girls will be spayed on Wednesday and will be available for adoption as early as Thursday. Since they will have already had surgery, they should be able to go home on the same day as their adoption. Visit hamiltonhumane.org/adopt for information on their adoption policies and process. ❤️

It’s funny how Bear and Bodie connect more with some foster kittens than others. It usually takes them a little time to warm up to a new group. Sometimes kittens are too forward with them right off the bat, and other times kittens hiss and growl at them the first few meetings. Bodie tends to get scared off by hissy/growly kittens. Bear tends to agitated if kittens don’t give him enough space and time to become familiar with them. He’s very aware and leery of change. Large groups can be overwhelming for both of them. There have been a couple of times that they decided they didn’t like a group of kittens at all and only tolerated them.
My boys have taken right to these girls though. No hesitation. Completely unfazed by their attention and high energy. Perhaps it’s because the Gremlins just left, and there was a very brief break between them interacting with foster kittens. It did take them longer than usual to warm up to the Gremlins, so maybe their newfound tolerance for them carried over to this group. It could also be that the girls haven’t shown any fear towards them.
Regardless, it’s all very cute. And my boys have been a big help with getting these girls socialized and more confident. 🩵
