I promise you that I don’t care about the latest diet craze or proving a certain influencer wrong as much as I did in the past. My views then were short sighted and only concerned with my own validation. The truth of the matter is being able to focus on diet outside of whether or not you’re going to eat at all… is a privilege. Privilege in the sense that starvation and insecurity isn’t a problem many of us deal with on a day to day basis. The fact that it’s such not a problem we can pick and choose what foods or diet plans we want to stick to. This is something many of us take for granted. I see the problem of health misinformation as that stemming from the successful of our scientific, health, and medical apparatuses. We are in such a state that we are insulated from fundamental problems we now take for granted. Many in the United States aren’t worried about infectious disease, malnutrition, or starvation. These problems are largely not in the public consciousness because a lot of us just simply don’t deal with it. But the problem is this privilege can shield us from understanding and addressing other places that are plagued by these issues. Places like Gaza, Yemen, and the Congo where children are starving and dealing with malnutrition. This is why a global health perspective matters. ——— #sciencebased #nutritionalscience #antidiet #sciencebasednutrition #coachesofinstagram #antidietdietitian #evidencebasedfitness #publichealtheducation #nutritionfacts #publichealthmatters #publichealtheducation #nutritionschool #nutritional #nutritionmatters #healthsupport #stopmalnutrition #healthcoach #dietitiansofinstagram #coaching #healthcoaching #fitnesscoaches #nutritionmemes #foodinsecure #evidencebasednutrition #globalhealth #coachinginstagram #nutritionmatters #nutritiontips #antidietculture #nutritioncoach

The fitness industry has failed and will continue to fail millions of people. While we sit around talking about bullshit topics like intermittent fasting, there are millions of folks in the USA alone who don’t have enough food. Imagine if we take this out to a global context. Millions of Americans have chronic disease, millions are food insecure, and millions do not have healthcare… why the fuck are we still debating about low carb vs high carb diets??? Where is the priority? Oh wait, the priority is to make money by making people focus on inconsequential shit to sell them on inconsequential solutions. Or you can be on the flip side call people out for selling silly shit while selling your own shit. Either way you’re never addressing the underlying causes for the issues in the first place. Maybe it’s because addressing systemic issues isn’t profitable enough. I’m sick of this industry and focusing on things that really don’t matter. ———- #sciencebased #nutritionalscience #antidiet #sciencebasednutrition #coachesofinstagram #antidietdietitian #evidencebasedfitness #mentalhealthmatters #nutritionfacts #publichealthmatters #publichealtheducation #nutritionschool #nutritional #nutritionmatters #healthsupport #onlinecoach #healthcoach #dietitiansofinstagram #coaching #healthcoaching #fitnesscoaches #nutritionmemes #fitnessjourney #evidencebasednutrition #fitnesscoaching #coachinginstagram #nutritionmatters #nutritiontips #antidietculture #nutritioncoach

I watched some of the Destiny vs. Jordan Peterson debate on YouTube. While I find it entertaining in many respects the one area of interest I had was the topic of the pandemic and the vaccines. Destiny provided solid evidence to the contrary of Jordan’s points and really pressed Jordan’s justifications. If you think Peterson came ahead of that exchange I will call you delusional. The data is clear, mRNA vaccines are effective at reducing risk of covid and covid related diseases. The risk of adverse reactions from the vaccines are extremely low. For further explanation and data I suggest you check out @niniandthebrain , @sciencewhizliz , @your_local_epidemiologist , and @unambiguousscience for more information. My takeaway is this… just because folks give decent self help advice doesn’t mean they’re experts in everything. Let’s stop supporting half baked intellectuals and let’s stop letting YouTube debaters show how foolish they are. ——— #psuedoscience #doyourownresearch #sciencememe #scientificresearch #sciencememes #philosophyofscience #scientificthinking #onlinedebate #scientific #researchpaper #scicomm #humanpsychology #jordanpeterson #jordanpetersonmemes #researching #criticalthinkingskills #sciencelover #sciencedeniers #antiscience #conspiracytheories #sciencecommunication #destinystreamer #sciencecommunicator #criticalthinking #scientific

I see a few evidence based people talking about a study which says intermittent fasting increases risk of death. Same old sensationalist bullshit applies but this time no one has gotten access to the study to see how the authors reach that conclusion. It’s basically an abstract of a presentation or something stupid like that. My basic beef is why do we care so much? Why do we care about inconsequential shit like intermittent fasting when people are starving, can’t afford food, and are food insecure? Maybe because talking about individual diets and studies allows folks to sell their own solutions, advice, and merchandise. Folks will use studies to seem legit and authoritative in order to sell you on their own brands. People in the fitness space (evidence based or not) largely do not care about others who are struggling with more fundamental problems related to their health. It’s much more profitable to sell a diet, sell an app, sell supplements, or sell coaching than it is to advocate for policy change. Don’t be deceived or fooled, the bullshit we are worried about in our small fitness and health bubbles largely doesn’t matter in the real world. ————— #sciencebased #nutritionalscience #antidiet #sciencebasednutrition #coachesofinstagram #antidietdietitian #evidencebasedfitness #mentalhealthmatters #nutritionfacts #publichealthmatters #publichealtheducation #nutritionschool #nutritional #nutritionmatters #healthsupport #onlinecoach #healthcoach #dietitiansofinstagram #coaching #healthcoaching #fitnesscoaches #nutritionmemes #fitnessjourney #evidencebasednutrition #fitnesscoaching #coachinginstagram #nutritionmatters #nutritiontips #antidietculture #nutritioncoach

How many times do I have to talk about this? How many times do I have to talk about anecdotes? How many times do I have to say anecdotes aren’t reliable for universal claims? I feel like a muppet constantly repeating himself but here we are… Anecdotes aren’t reliable as pieces of evidence… end of story. ————- #psuedoscience #doyourownresearch #sciencememe #scientificresearch #sciencememes #philosophyofscience #scientificthinking #onlinedebate #scientific #researchpaper #scicomm #humanpsychology #testimonials #ancedotes #researching #criticalthinkingskills #sciencelover #sciencedeniers #antiscience #conspiracytheories #sciencecommunication #arguments #sciencecommunicator #criticalthinking #scientific

How many times have you heard the phrase “science is all about asking questions”? This sentence is nonsensical for a number of reasons. Reason # 1: Science is more complicated than just asking questions. Read anything on research methodology and study design. Reason # 2: Asking questions doesn’t mean someone is doing science. For example, I can ask questions concerning unicorns and fairies, it doesn’t mean I’m doing science. Reason # 3: Science is concerned with relevant questions. Outside of the fact the very act of asking questions in of itself isn’t science… even if science requires a certain amount of questioning that question needs to be relevant to the context of the scientific paradigm we know of. What do you define as science? Why do you define it that way? ——— #psuedoscience #doyourownresearch #sciencememe #scientificresearch #sciencememes #philosophyofscience #scientificthinking #onlinedebate #scientific #researchpaper #scicomm #humanpsychology #testimonials #argument #researching #criticalthinkingskills #sciencelover #sciencedeniers #antiscience #conspiracytheories #sciencecommunication #anecdote #sciencecommunicator #criticalthinking #scientific

Dam another SpongeBob meme? Yes another SpongeBob meme. We have to continuously call out the lunacy of health information (or misinformation) online. For my people who are introduced to this bullshit make sure to ignore it… eating an all meat diet is absurd. Don’t skip out on your fruits and vegetables kids. Let me know what topics you want me to cover next in the comments. ———- #sciencebased #nutritionalscience #antidiet #sciencebasednutrition #coachesofinstagram #antidietdietitian #evidencebasedfitness #carnivorediet #nutritionfacts #fitnessjourney #evidencebasednutrition #fitnesscoaching #coachinginstagram #nutritionmatters #nutritiontips #antidietculture #nutritioncoach #antidietculture #antidietapproach #nutritionschool #nutritional #nutritionmatters #mentalhealthsupport #onlinecoach #healthcoach #dietitiansofinstagram #coaching #healthcoaching #fitnesscoaches #nutritionmemes

The shaming and stigma associated with eating processed foods needs to stop. It is the underlying privilege of the message that one should only eat this or that way based on factors that really don’t matter which bothers me a lot. It bothers me because many do not have the choice to consume a better quality diet. Many do not have the choices and privileges to reject or accept foods on the grounds of processing. It bothers me that food corporations set the standards for what is available for folks to eat. It perplexes me that we pretend choices are in a vacuum rather than influenced by outside forces and factors. Diet isn’t merely individual choice but a culmination of different variables from income to culture to region. Let’s stop pretending our little social media bubble where people can argue about the intricacies of an all meat diet many cannot even afford is all there is. ——— #sciencebased #nutritionalscience #antidiet #sciencebasednutrition #coachesofinstagram #antidietdietitian #evidencebasedfitness #mentalhealthmatters #nutritionfacts #fitnessjourney #evidencebasednutrition #fitnesscoaching #coachinginstagram #nutritionmatters #nutritiontips #antidietculture #nutritioncoach #publichealthmatters #publichealtheducation #nutritionschool #nutritional #nutritionmatters #mentalhealthsupport #onlinecoach #healthcoach #dietitiansofinstagram #coaching #healthcoaching #fitnesscoaches #nutritionmemes

I need a break… Social media is super draining especially for regular content creators. My supporters that know and mess with my work will find me active on my substack for now (link in bio) I want to share and consume more long form content less stupid ass short term reels and other types of posts. Maybe this will force me to read, reflect, and create more deliberately. Maybe this will force me to connect to my friends better. All I know is, there is a reason social media is bad for our mental wellbeing. It’s imperative to know when to step away and I need to step away from this for now. I’ll be back in April. ———— #humanpsychology #mentalhealthmatters #menthalhealth #counselor #counselorsofinstagram #behaviors #mentalillness #menthalhealthmatters #brainscience #therapist #therapist #clinicalpsychology #psychologystudent #behaviour #therapy #psychologyfacts #counselorsofinstagram #counseling #therapistofinstagram #counselingpsychology #depression #majordepression #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalhealthadvocates #psychologicalresearch #psychologyresearch #socialmediabreak

As a person who has dealt with and continues to deal with obesity it’s important to add clarity. Obesity is a disease as described by the AMA and other organizations. However, as my fellow meme maker and lifestyle doctor @drnadolsky states outright “obesity isn’t a choice”. If obesity is a disease, as many have strongly argued it is, then it calls into question its etiology. While weight gain is a function of the complex CICO equation, how this equation plays out depends on numerous sociological and psychological factors. We have strong evidence socioeconomic factors and obesity are connected, we have evidence geographical location impacts weight gain/obesity, and we have strong evidence that psychological distress is connected with obesity. [PMID: 28073954; PMID: 32699458; PMID: 20194822]. This spits in the face of the common complaint that obesity is merely a function of personal choice. It cannot be just personal choice is various environmental and psychological factors influence the outcome in question. Losing weight and maintaining weight loss is also really difficult. We also have ample evidence shame and blaming strategies can worsen health outcomes for those dealing with obesity by perpetuating stigma [PMID: 32127716]. What does this mean? We need to see obesity more as a complex disease with numerous factors more akin to diabetes and heart disease rather than an individual failing. ——— #sciencebased #nutritionalscience #evidencebasedcoaching #sciencebasednutrition #coachesofinstagram #onlinecoaching💪 #evidencebasedfitness #obesitysurgery #nutritionfacts #publichealtheducation #nutritionschool #nutritional #nutritionmatters #mentalhealthsupport #onlinecoach #healthcoach #dietitiansofinstagram #coaching #healthcoaching #obesity #nutritionmemes #fitnessjourney #evidencebasednutrition #fitnesscoaching #coachinginstagram #nutritionmatters #nutritiontips #obese #nutritioncoach #publichealthmatters

You all need to touch grass. Seriously. All this time we spend on the internet fighting and debating we forget about what really matters… Our close friendships, romantic relationships, and family. We forget about the natural world and its beauty. We forget about our daily lives and obligations. Social media has become a place of escape for many people. Many of us live on the internet. We need to break the cycle, put your phone down and step outside every once in a while. Spend time with friends and family… social media won’t go away I promise. ——- #humanpsychology #mentalhealthmatters #menthalhealth #counselor #counselorsofinstagram #behaviors #mentalillness #menthalhealthmatters #brainscience #therapist #therapist #clinicalpsychology #psychologystudent #behaviour #therapy #psychologyfacts #counselorsofinstagram #counseling #therapistofinstagram #counselingpsychology #depression #majordepression #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalhealthadvocates #psychologicalresearch #psychologyresearch #psychologyfacts
