#TBT You already know that some of the biggest movie stars and names in the entertainment business worldwide have been judges and/or VIP guests at Miss World.
But did you know that some of them even got to crown the winner?
It’s the case of Omar Sharif, one of the world’s all-time greatest superstars, who starred in major film productions such as Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, and Funny Girls, and in 1969 got to crown Miss World Eva Rueben-Staier from Austria, once Penelope Plummer, her predecessor, decided not to attend the event. Sharif was also part of the panel of judges that year.
Eric Morley, of course, announced the winner’s name.
1969 was the year when Miss World was first held at the Royal Albert Hall theater and broadcast in color by @bbc . 10 million homes in Britain watched the show that night, which made it one of the most watched shows in the UK that year!

There’s a new Miss World Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 (@missmundopr ), or “Miss Mundo de Puerto Rico”, and she is Valeria Nicole Pérez (@valeeriapeerez ), 22, who has a bachelor’s degree in biology and and a master’s degree in medical thechnology. Learn more about her election at (link in the bio ⬆️).

Miss England and Miss Europe, @jessicaashley_ , is the new Miss United Kingdom.
Until 1999, Miss UK competed in Miss World. That year Miss UK competed for the last time, alongside Miss Scotland and Miss Wales. In the year 2000, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales all started competing independently in Miss World, and the one who placed highest among the four, was elected Miss United Kingdom.
Jessica was announced as Miss United Kingdom 2024 last Sunday, in Blackpool, during a semi-final event for Miss England.

On Monday (April 1st) Miss World @krystyna_pyszko was interviewed by Martin Čermák @martincermak_ , host of the @tvnovaofficial tv show “Za pět minut dvanáct”. It happened minutes after she photographed for another magazine cover and editorial (May edition). Wrapping up a very busy week in the Czech Republic, Miss World participated in TALK!, hosted by @rebeccadiatilova . She was accompanied by her national director @tatanamakarenko .
