The Jacaranda House project was designed to have inviting and warm interiors while being robust at the same time. The flooring and joinery were made from recycled timber, providing texture and a ready-made patina. The double-height space located above the dining area is designed to let light and airflow into the house, creating a beautiful sense of drama. The layout of the living area is defined by the translucent balustrade to the staircase, which helps each space have a unique character. Visit the link in bio for loads more lovely shots of the project. Architecture by @nestarchi Built by @tcmbuildinggroup Styling @bellebrightproject

In the dynamic world of B Corp businesses, the journey towards greater impact never ends—it's a continuous quest for improvement. Every action, no matter how small, contributes to a larger, positive change. Here's a quirky tidbit: Did you know that 119,000 workers have the opportunity to own shares in their B Corp company? A remarkable 26% of B Corps empower their employees by offering them a stake in the company. How good is that?! If you're interested to read more about this, take a look at the #BcorpMonth or visit

Last week we wrapped up the last session of the pilot program, Business of Biodiversity. This was a 6 month program run by myself and @odonata_foundation , with the aim of enabling businesses of all sizes to come up with a tangible nature project to implement alongside their business. We had 24 business in our cohort, with 100,000 employees down to sole traders, and we came together last week to hear them pitch their ideas to Tim Flannery, Nigel Sharp (founder of Odonata and many other impact focused businesses) and Annette Rypalski (Director of Biodiversity) down at the Mt Rothwell threatened species sanctuary. Ideas ranged from regenerating our native hardwood timber supply for future buildings, creating an app to offset carbon via funding native backyard gardens, a 1:1 program for building artificial hollows for every new house built, and a housing and wildlife sanctuary development - just to name a few. Now it's time to review the pilot, make it better, and run it again. And over and over, until we no longer need to remind businesses that nature is an intrinsic part of our life, values, and economy. This isn't just about refining a program or a project, it's about fundamentally altering the perception of nature in the business world. By continuously improving our approaches and strategies, we aim to embed a deep respect for biodiversity and nature in the corporate ethos. Ultimately, our goal is to create a business landscape where integrating nature's well-being into every decision is not just an added value, but a foundational principle. In doing so, we will pave the way for a future where businesses are not just in compliance with sustainability standards, but are active stewards of our planet's health and diversity. if you're interested in joining our next cohort, sign up for our waitlist at the link in bio.

Are you one of the 30-50% of Australian households that feed wild birds? This controversial practice is banned in WA (you can't feed any native fauna without a licence), but millions of well meaning people still feed wild birds in their backyard. Unfortunately, many don’t realise that it can do more harm than good for our feathered friends – and if done incorrectly, can lead to serious problems including malnutrition, disease and unbalanced populations. But, if you are going to feed wild birds, here’s some tips on how to do it properly > Link in bio @marniehawson

Park Towers - nestled along a serene street near South Yarra's botanical haven. Originally crafted in 1938 by esteemed inter-war architect Arthur Plaisted, this art deco gem underwent a transformative renovation by @braveneweco . The brief here was to revitalize the home and introduce practical solutions to create more functionality and space while honoring the timeless charm of the original design. My favourite part is this space, nestled behind the front door. It's a clever shelving solution that maximizes space, while a custom curved dining table adds versatility. Isn't it neat? To see more visit link in bio CREDITS LOCATION: South Yarra, on the Traditional lands of the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung peoples SCOPE: Renovation to kitchen & bathroom CONCEPT + INTERIOR DESIGN TEAM: Megan Norgate, Laura Green of @braveneweco BUILDER: Elevate Bathrooms & Kitchens CABINETMAKER: Fineline Cabinets STYLIST: Brave New Eco

Last week, I went to the B Lab Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand Assembly 2024 - with over 300 certified B Corp businesses from ANZ coming together to connect for the first time in over five years. I spoke on the panel 'Restoring hope in a fatalist world' with Sasha Titchkosky of @koskela_ and Cheyne McKee from @bankaust , musing about how we can make an impact at both individual and business level - I see action as an antidote to despair, and the main way to dial in that sneaky little emotion called hope. An epic three days of connecting with inspirational leaders of good business, and passionate people showing how we can use our businesses as a force for good. We were promised we'd leave with more questions than we started with, and we weren't disappointed! Many thanks to B Lab Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand for putting on such a great program and event! Thanks for the photos @sarahoterra - I always forget to pull out my phone on my days off ;) #BcorpCommunity #PositiveImpact #Forceforgood #BcorpMonth #BTheChange #BCorporation #BCorpAU #Bcorp #Assembly2024 @ bcorpanz @sarahoterra @sashatitchkosku @cheyneMckee @bankaust @koskela_

Women continue to inspire progress and drive change in every sphere of life. As a female led business in Australia, I recognise and uplift the voices of the women I work with everyday. On top of this, I'm honoured to be a female led certified B-Corp. Did you know, women-owned businesses are more likely to certify as B-Corps? (according to data from 2021) This is awesome and is a huge testament to what women can achieve in the business world and in the environmental space. Yes we're still battling a whole lot of gaps, but while progress can seem slow - each generation will keep reducing that gap. In the meantime, Happy International Womens Day!
