Get ready for #EarthDay2024 with our free classroom resources for pupils aged 5 – 14 (supported by REY Paper). Our recent research showed that comic strips are a great tool for engaging children and young people with reading for pleasure – and our #PlanetvsPlastics lesson plans include comics galore!
The activities will develop key literacy skills and empower children to explore an environmental issue that is important to them through comic strips, posters, and research and discussion points. Use the resources throughout the week of @EarthDay so that pupils can share their learning with their communities, families, and friends.

Did you know that when you copy what your child says, it shows them you are listening?
Adding an extra word or two teaches them new words and how to say longer sentences! For more tips on supporting your 0-5's speech and communication, download our free walk and talk trail, to carry with you and help chat whilst you're out and about. Find out more in our bio!
The cost of living crisis is having a direct impact on child literacy levels – and families with the lowest incomes are being hit the hardest. Nine children in every reception classroom are falling behind and many will never catch up. We already have successful projects on the ground supporting families, schools and community groups with early years literacy – and with your help we could expand them in priority areas.

Our research shows that comics and graphic novels buck the trend in declining reading engagement and can be used to inspire a future generation of readers. This diverse genre is a fun and legitimate reading format that captivates the minds of young readers and even helps to boost confidence in reading ability.
