✨SAVE this post if you dream of sailing to Antarctica through the treacherous Drake Passage!✨🇦🇶 This is what it’s like navigating through The Drake, one of the most dangerous seas on earth. Since its situated between South America’s Cape Horn & Antarctica, the majority of expeditions set sail from Ushuaia the southernmost tip of Argentina, nicknamed the “End of the World.” The Drake Passage is known for its extreme weather conditions, including fierce winds, massive waves, and unpredictable storms due to the meeting of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Southern Oceans. Also known as the Drake shake, which we definitely experienced, so our ship was prepared with barf bags along the railings incase seasickness struck. Why is it considered one of the most dangerous voyages for ships to make? Currents at its latitude meet no resistance from any landmass, so waves can reach 40 feet, giving it a reputation for being the most powerful convergence of seas. Despite its reputation, crossing this unpredictable body of wster can be an unforgettable 48-hour affair, especially if you’re sailing on a luxury expedition like we did with @aktravel_usa . These days, with the finest stabilizing equipment, safety procedures, experienced crew members & polar-ready ships, the Drake Passage was a remarkable part of our Antarctic voyage. What did we do during those 4 memorable days? We were far from bored as we spend our time exploring the ship, eating delicious food (thanks to my anti nausea patch), attending science based seminars led by research team members onboard and just relaxing while taking it all in. I highly recommend this rite of passage for those seeking a journey to the 7th continent. 🇦🇶 #LATGxAntarctica #drakepassage #thedrakepassage #antarctica

Ever wondered what it’s like to take the @Caledoniansleeper train from London to Scotland? 🧳🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🚉 Travelling with a little one can be rough, especially on multiple planes after a 12 hour journey from the States. Instead of adding another flight to our day, we decided to instead take the Caledonian Sleeper train up to Glasgow for a more comfortable trip home with baby Kai. From beginning to end our journey was lovely! We were greeted by the warmest staff who helped store all of our luggage and directed us to our cabin. We were staying in a Double Room, which was so cosy yet had plenty of room for a family of three. The cabin came with all the amenities you’d need for an overnight stay including Scottish luxury toiletries by @arransenseofscotland . We even had our own ensuite & sink, which allows you to stay in your cabin for the whole ride if you choose.   The Club Car was our second favourite area of the train - we ordered some delicious Scottish cuisine and even had a chance to try the exclusive Caledonian Sleeper Whisky commemorating the 150 Year Anniversary of the Scotland-London Sleeper services.   After a comfortable night’s sleep, we woke up to stunning views of the Scottish countryside during sunrise. We watched the scenery through our window while relaxing from the comfort of our bed then took a quick shower and got ready to head to breakfast. The Club Car serves a traditional Scottish Breakfast with haggis & black pudding but you also have the option to get your meal delivered to your cabin! This was the best way for our family to be welcomed back home in Glasgow and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough, especially if you’re in London this summer and looking to explore Scotland!   Tag us if you end up travelling with @caledoniansleeper we’d love to see your adventures too! #AD

Flying long haul with a 5 month old? Let’s take a 10+ hour Polaris Class flight from London to LA. ✈ 🧿🫶🏻✈️ Kai boarded dressed to impress in his 3 piece suit and captured the entire crew’s hearts immediately, especially the pilots. The entire pilot staff came out to introduce themselves and gave @latravelbaby his first set of wings & a signed copy of the flight’s route map. They then invited us in the cockpit plus took us on a private tour to their onboard rooms, where United pilots switch off to take a rest during long haul shifts. After the warm welcome we went back to our seats to prepare for take off. I was served champagne + picked out what I wanted to eat for dinner from the Polaris menu while I fed baby Kai for takeoff. After we were in the sky topped baby off with a pre pumped bottle so mommy could get ready to settle too. A great feature with Polaris business class is that certain seats have built in bassinets for baby’s under 20lbs. On the 787-9 Dreamliner from London to LA those seats were 1A & 9A (each aircraft differs so I’d recommend contacting United for those specific seats) and be sure to book in advance when traveling with a baby. The bassinet even comes with a mirror so I can see what baby is up to as I relax & stretch out in my own seat. Kai chilled while I enjoyed a 3 course meal. Afterwards I changed into my pjs while the crew setup my bedding for mommy’s sleep while Craig took over. I had a few great hours of uninterrupted sleep in my lie flat seat with the saks 5th Avenue bedding and woke up to a baby wanting cuddles. Luckily Kai slept the rest of flight in the bassinet while I had a snack and watched the flight map. In no time we were nearly at our destination and served a light meal before landing in Los Angeles. Traveling with baby is possible and even enjoyable when you plan what right for your family! Another amazing inflight experience for our happy little family thanks to United. Make sure to follow & like for more tips on family travel! @united #MyUnitedJourney 🧿🫶🏻✈️ #AD

Best time to go to the famous tulip fields of The Netherlands 🇳🇱 (✨SAVE for your next Trip✨) Visiting Holland in Spring, during the bloom period, is hands down one of the best times to experience the country. Not only is the weather warming up, but the burst of colors from the tulips & other flowers is amazing. Even when landing in Amsterdam, the land below is like a painting full of colorful patterns, so incredible to see from above! Here are some tips to make the best of the Tulip Season: 🌷Plan your visit between the end of March-start of May. This is when the tulips are in bloom, which lasts only 60 days! 💐 Keukenhof, known as the most beautiful spring garden in the world & only 40 minutes from Amsterdam. Be sure to buy tickets in advance online as they sell out quickly, especially on weekends. 🌷Most garden websites have flower reports so check them out before your head out. 💐 Don’t only visit Keukenhof Gardens! There are many options that are less crowded and give you the opportunity to pick your own tulips plus walk through them like @tulipexperienceamsterdam 🌷Although it’s Spring & the sun may be out there’s a huge chance it’ll be a bit chilly or wet! Bring a warm jacket + umbrella incase it rains. 💐 Rent a car vs taking a tour bus. It’ll give you a chance to tulip field hop and get there as early or late as you like. 🌷If visiting Keukenhof gardens arrive as soon as it opens to avoid hoards of tourists. The buses generally show up around 9:30 and it gets uncomfortably crowded, especially on the weekends. 💐 Try to visit the gardens on weekdays if possible as weekends are much more crowded. 🌷 Remember to always pay to access each garden and if there’s a private tulip farm, never trespass. You can always ask for permission as some may be ok to public taking photos. 💐 You can see Hyacinth fields during this time as well! They bloom during April so if your visit overlaps why not see both 🌷 & 🪻 Whenever you visit, I hope enjoy & have a lovely time traveling this great country 🇳🇱💙 #LATGxNetherlands #tulipfields #tulips #tulip #holland #netherlands

The journey to Hogwarts comes to an end? 🔚🚂💨 The famous Jacobite Steam train aka Hogwarts express from the Harry Potter Films can no longer operate due to safety issues. We are so sad to hear the news & hope this isn’t permanent. We’ve had such great memories riding the train plus visiting the Glenfinnan Viaduct to see the steam train crossing, as it’s a huge attraction we look forward to during the warmer months here in Scotland. Services have been suspended until April in a wrangle over safety regulations. West Coast Railways are currently on the process of refunding guests who had reserved tickets from 28th March to 1st April 2024 (dates inclusive). Hope they’ll be able to proceed safely following those dates as the services are completely SOLD OUT for the season! We would still highly recommend visiting the beautiful Glenfinnan region, loch shiel and the famous viaduct as it’s a magnificent site on its own! 📍Did you get the chance to ride it or view it crossing? #LATGxScotland #SimplyScotland

⛔️ WARNING ⛔️ Graphic content of Animals Hunting. Which would you prefer to see in their natural habitat: Emperor Penguins, Orcas/Killer Whales, or Leopard Seals? 🦭🐧🐋 The wildlife was by far the highlight of my Antarctic expedition. It was surreal to witness these animals in their natural environment. Walking among penguin rookeries, sailing alongside humpback whales, and even observing a leopard seal hunting a penguin (swipe to see content on slide 3 & 4) — the best part was that they didn’t even seem bothered by our close encounters. There are a few reasons why animals in Antarctica are generally not aggressive towards human tourists: 1. Lack of Predators: Many animals in Antarctica, such as penguins and seals, have evolved without natural predators. This lack of predation has led to relatively docile behavior towards humans. 2. Limited Human Presence: Human presence in Antarctica is strictly regulated, and tourists usually visit designated areas with guides who enforce rules to minimize disturbance to wildlife. This limited and controlled interaction reduces the likelihood of aggressive encounters. 3. Habituation: Wildlife in Antarctica has become somewhat accustomed to the presence of humans due to ongoing scientific research activities. This habituation can lead to animals being less fearful or aggressive towards human visitors. 4. Natural Curiosity: Some Antarctic animals, like penguins, may exhibit curiosity towards humans but are not inherently aggressive. They may approach humans out of curiosity rather than hostility. Overall, while interactions with wildlife in Antarctica can be awe-inspiring, they are generally peaceful due to a combination of factors including limited human presence, lack of natural predators, and habituation to human activities. This is one of the many reasons I would recommend embarking on a sailing expedition to Antarctica! #LATGxAntarctica #Antarctica #AKTravel #whales #TravelWithAK #penguins #seals #Abercrombieandkent #rookeries #expedition #drakepassage 📸: @latravelgirl & @craig_mcstay 📽️: @d_w_fletcher
