Your eyes are not deceiving you. I’m going there. 👊🏾 I found 10 non-alcoholic wines I like as a wine professional. When a long-time family friend asks you to do the research, well, you do the research and you learn a few things. I'm glad I stayed open because I learned a lot. This is the first official article for my newsletter and because non-alcoholic products are such a hot topic I wanted to approach it from my work in wine. I did the legwork so you don’t have too. Find out which non-alcoholic wines are in my top 10 list at the link to my newsletter, Métier in my bio.

Let’s Study Wine Together: Chasing Burgundy with Mary Margaret McCamic, Master of Wine ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was avoiding a deep dive into Burgundy, but I know @marymargaretmccamic is going to make class fun and enjoyable. I can’t wait to for classes to start with @chasingburgundy . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When Mary Margaret announced this class I knew she was my teacher. Not only is she a friend and colleague, but she is very relatable when it comes to wine. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Chasing Burgundy is our chance to learn together. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So, who’s joining me in learning about Burgundy with Mary Margaret? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Full details are in my newsletter and you can subscribe at the link in my profile. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ See you there. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #chasingburgundy #burgundywine #grandcru #whiteburgundy #redburgundy #wineeducation #winelover

The past few weeks have a been a lot. Adulting is hard, but this year my goal has been to find all the pockets of joy. When I found out I was coming to California for work, I immediately thought I need to go early to Los Angeles so I could work on my roller skating skills with someone who does it professionally. Most Sundays I am watching tons of skating videos for tips, but I needed some help in real life. Those videos led me to Kelsey (@the_good_guy91 ) in L.A. and specifically Venice Beach. Kelsey, helped me in those two hours feel more confident on my skates, body, and we had so much fun. She showed up with a speaker, a fun playlist that put a smile on my face, helped me bounce to the beat, and soak up all the joy I so desperately needed. I did my typical L.A. cliché love of @erewhon for provisions and @kreationjuice for lunch, soaked in the beautiful weather, and took a delicious nap. Y’all know I told her to start her own YouTube channel to help others. Thank you Kelsey for helping me become a more confident skater and enjoy this new roller skating journey in my 50s. I’m rolling into this week so much joy that was needed. I hope you find some pockets of joy.

I only drink wine from cool people and the producers of @corollarywines sparkling wines happen to be a few of my favorite Oregon producers. In today's @substack newsletter, I write about Corollary's Momtazi Carbonic Rosé, As A Wine You Should Be Drinking. Link to read in my profile. So excited to see them again in July.

Today is a good day for Black Women Authors and I’m bringing two of my favorite authors and people writing books to your attention. Tia Williams literally thrust me into my writing career. I am here because of many people and especially THE TIA WILLIAMS. The love I have for @tiawilliamswrites truly goes beyond words. If you follow me and my work, I am here because of Tia. In 2006, at a writer event in Washington, D.C., Tia asked about my skincare while signing one of her books for me. I replied “I buy my skincare and get all my facials in Paris” and she immediately replied, “you need a blog.” From writing about my then beauty blog and now she has always celebrated my work. Today we celebrate Tia and her latest release, “A Love Song for Ricki Wilde.” Can I tell you this book gave me the best book hangover. When it ended I did a deep sigh because I need more of Ricki and Ezra. I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy, but don’t think I haven’t purchased a hardback and Kindle version. There is one line from the beginning of the book when I knew the hangover would happen. ~“That’s how Dr. Bennett and I loved each other. He was music I could listen to forever.” ~ Her book is available today, wherever books are sold. Link in profile to buy her book.

I remember the exact day I hugged @changecadet . We were in Bordeaux and living our best version of joy in the wine world. A lot happened on that trip, but what I recalled the most was the thought “I am honored to have her in my life.” Her book just released today, White Supremacy Is All Around: Notes from a Black Disabled Woman in a White World and it should be in everyone’s hand. As the world continues to think we’ve moved on from 2020 and the past 400 years (we haven’t), a lot of people are still working on changing it. @changecadet is one of those people and I am blessed to work and learn from her again and again. As I continue to “do the work” necessary to move the wine world forward, it’s books like hers that I am blessed to have in my repertoire. Her book is available today, wherever books are sold. Also, her fashion is on point. I adore her page for the work, as well, as the “fits. I have a link in my profile to buy her book. Thank you, DR. CADET for all you do.

The only thing I am making sure I do in 2024 is have FUN! Over the past few years fun was lacking from my life. After seeing @usher in Paris in October I couldn’t stop talking about how I miss roller skating and ice skating. Since I’m not close to an ice rink, my husband gave me such a thoughtful gift - these gorgeous skates and also all the accoutrements. At this age I am not trying to fall and break something 🤣Helmet, knee, and wrist pads for the win. I mean I used to be all over Almeda Skate Rink in Houston back in the day. I’ve been skating everyday, working on my drills, and watching YouTube videos on the terminology. I’ve been smiling the entire time. Needless to say I am going to be team checked bag because I have found skating groups to coincide with a few work trips. Excited for all the fun I will be having. 🛼 HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉
