One of my first jobs in photography was staff photographer at the Denver Post, which I loved, covering everything from the Broncos to John Denver to President Ford skiing in Vail. Now, after years as staff photographer at National Geographic, I’ll be back in nearby Lone Tree, Colorado for my presentation “4 Decades: Through the Lens,” on Friday March 8 at 8 pm at the Lone Tree Arts Center. I’ll talk about my life journey from a childhood on a desert island in Iran to a young rock and roll photographer to nearly four decades with National Geographic, exploring the hidden worlds of the women of Saudi Arabia, the beauty and cruelty of the Japanese geisha’s ancient traditions, and the tragedy of human trafficking—searching for stories behind the veils and walls of cultures in some of the world’s most complex, impenetrable environments. Thank you to my amazing host @ltartscenter and agency @changemakertalent #artsinlonetree #ltartscenter #lonetreeartscenter #changemakertalentdevelopment

Seoul, South Korea, 2009. Each year on April 22 we celebrate #EarthDay , and @ThePhotoSociety is digging into its archive to celebrate our natural world. Beginning in 1970, Earth Day is seen as the birth of the modern day environmental movement. It has since grown to an annual global event— inspiring millions to care about the planet we live on. Visit the TPS Archive link in @thephotosociety to discover more of our incredible world. LAST DAY! Don't miss out on your chance to own my print of Dolly Parton, available from the @Vital.Impacts Winter Collection which closes today. Over 100 photographers have come together to rally around a cause—the environment. Using their art, they are raising funds to support the next generation of environmentalists. Proceeds from the Winter Collection benefit the Jane Goodall Insititute's Roots & Shoots program and the Vital Impacts Environmental Photography Grants and Mentorship program. Please visit @Vital.Impacts to see the incredible work of the other 99 photographers represented and order today—last chance! In the words of @amivitale , founder of Vital Impacts: “Dolly Parton, singer-songwriter, actress, philanthropist, business-woman and all-around queen of generosity and kindness, takes a moment with a young fan and her Dolly Doll outside of her tour bus in 1976. Dolly's been making music and making waves since she was 6 years old. Since then, she's earned 11 Emmys, 50 nominations and adoration the world over. Her charity, the @imaginationlibrary has sent out nearly 200 million books to children across the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland. She's raised money for the @americanredcross , HIV-AIDS related charities and personally donated $1 million towards the development of a Covid-19 vaccine. (If you received the moderna_tx Vaccine, you're carrying a little bit of Dolly with you.)” And who wouldn’t want that? #environmental #vitalimpacts #women #dollyparton #conservation
