Love this transformation from @colcol.nz 🤗🤠
“Finding black vintage towels is near impossible, so when @hannahandharlow asked for a black hat, we had to get creative.
It didn’t turn out jet black, but Hannah is still happy with it, and that’s what’s important 🩶
I loved the dyeing process and am already planning another dyeing session to re-create a childhood bucky I had in the 90s 🌻”
*when immersion dyeing with black dye, to achieve a deep jet black color, add salt to the dye bath and heat the dye bath to 180F for Jet Black and 140F for Wam Black 😉

“Batik dyeing is a Southeast Asian resist technique where wax is drawn on fabric to create a pattern. This at home version creates the same amazing results using Elmers Gel Glue.
• Draw your desired pattern with the glue and let dry.
• Spray down the fabric with warm Soda Ash water to make sure it is already damp so the color takes better.
• I used 3 different Procion MX fabric dye colors and sporadically covered the bunched fabric with all of them.
• Open up to make sure all parts of the fabric is covered in dye then lay out for 24 hours for the dye to set.
• Rinse with cold water then wash with hot water to get all the glue off. Tumble dry and you’re done!
Have you ever tried this technique before?”
