Meet Mara, this is her story.
Meg and I were not looking to adopt another puppy right away after losing Sam. To be honest, we were debating being dogless for a while. But the Bear Dog works in mysterious ways. We never said we would not adopt again, just that we were going to wait and if it was meant to be, we figured Sam would send a sign.
Well…signs received. Mara had Sam’s fluffy head, and in her adoption pic was a hedgehog, one of Sam’s favorite toys. We went and visited Mara the next day. Koda came and was not allowed off leash which means he did not respond well to her. We left without Mara. 2 days passed and we couldn’t get over her, and how sad we were for not bringing her home. We contacted the rescue who said she was still available. We went and got her the next day, which was a good thing because in that time 48 other people called about her.
Her mom is a German Shepherd, dad is unknown. So far she’s been a big ball of energy but responding to her new family, including Koda. We’ve had a few sleepless nights, but it’s all be worth it for this sweet nugget.
The last pic is of Sam the day I adopted her, sisters.

One of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make was letting you go. We drove across the country and did everything in our power to make sure you were included on all of our adventures. Our family will never be the same, and I will always be looking and listening for you, waiting for you to come back, like you always did.
I hope we didn’t hold on too long, and I know you stuck around to keep us from this pain. I miss you, bear bear, you were the best girl.
Thank you. I love you.
Now, go chase all the squirrels.
