As the first female Supreme Court Justice, Sandra Day O'Connor was the deciding vote on many issues important to girls today. The "O'Connor Court" addressed affirmative action, abortion, voting rights, and sex discrimination. Trying to straddle the middle ground, she believed that the laws should reflect society's progress. The #16Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off today on International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
