If you struggle with poor body image, then you’re not alone. Even the most confident people feel self-conscious from time to time and we all have body hang-ups.
Here are 5 ways to feel more confident about yourself and your body.
Fake it till you make it:
After years of self deprecation, ditching your negative mindset can seem impossible. So start by faking it. When you catch yourself in the mirror don’t pick up on every single flaw. Instead tell yourself that you’re beautiful. Carrying yourself with confidence will eventually become second nature to you and you’ll feel much better about yourself.
Stop comparing yourself to others:
People come in all shapes and sizes. One person is beautiful in one way, and the next person in some other way. And isn’t that how it should be? Imagine how boring it would be if there were only one way to be, and to feel, beautiful. Comparing yourself to others can leave you feeling like you don’t look the way you should, but you’re not supposed to look like someone else; you’re supposed to look like you.
Focus on what you love about yourself: It’s not just loving the way you look that helps build your body confidence, it’s also about embracing who you are. Think about your values, qualities and accomplishments that make you who you are. Appreciate your strengths and if you’re not sure where to begin, ask a loved one who has no doubt got a long list guaranteed to boost you up.
Think healthier, not skinnier:
When you’re making meals, or when you’re hitting the gym, don’t frame your fitness goals according to a number you’d like to see on the scale. Exercise and a healthy diet shouldn’t be punishment; this is one way we show respect and appreciation for our bodies.
Buy clothes that make you feel fabulous:
What you wear has a huge impact on your body image and clothes have the power to completely enhance and accentuate the way you look.
Most importantly, wear clothes that you feel comfortable in. And then focus on finding outfits that make you look and feel fabulous
