72nd Emmy Awards... via zoom. The 60 days prior to the awards we were living out of tents and camping/filming Life Below Zero in Alaska. I was able to catch a red eye back to Tahoe, and had just enough time to toss on half a tux and join a good amount of the LBZ team for the virtual awards. We ended up with a WIN for Outstanding Cinematography! It may not have been the same Emmy celebrations as past, but it was pretty nice to be in my hometown of Squaw Valley for it.
Congrats to the fellow DPs on this win!
Congratulations to our editors for their well deserved Emmy nomination this year! I’m always excited to see how they put these episodes together, and every time the final cut shows how talented this editing team is.
A big thank you and recognition to our shooter producers and camera operator/DITs. They have multiple jobs to do in the field, and one being extremely talented film makers. We wouldn’t be able to shoot most our stories without multiple camera angles.
Thank you to our safety managers in the field. We are able to focus more energy on filming when we know our safety team is watching out for dangers and keep us moving in our remote locations.
Thanks to the cast who are willing to let us tag along and document their remote way of life. Over the years it has been great becoming friends and learning something new each trip.
Our cast members understand the value of a nice shot and are willing to put in the extra time and effort to help achieve that.
Thanks to our team from the LA office, the team from our Anchorage office, our production manager and coordinators, tech supervisor, and field team. You all keep this show moving smoothly!
Thank you to our executive producers and co-executive producers who have had a vision for this show and made it into what it is today! Life Below Zero has been amazing to work on over the years and I look forward to its future.
Thanks BBC Studios, National Geographic, and the Television Academy.
Thank you to an awesome friend, Oliver Lynch, who introduced me to this show over six years ago. You are greatly missed buddy.
Cheers
