What is osteopathy???
🍁 As osteopaths we predominantly diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions (muscles, bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, cartalidge etc) in everyone from new born babies to elderly people.
🍁Pain is the most common complaint, so as osteopaths we have a comprehensive understanding of pain and how to manage it.
🍁We are trained to consider many different aspects of an individuals case. This might include: what the body is showing us, what that person is doing that may be maintaining the issue? What is their psychological state? What is it that they are trying to get back doing/can’t do right now? Other conditions that are affecting the pain… The list goes on…
🍁So essentially our job is to seek/restore health and to prevent injury. We do this through osteopathic techniques (hands on manual therapy), exercise rehabilitation programmes, nutritional advice, lifestyle advice & much more.
🍁As allied health professionals we understand the wider health care system meaning we know when to refer and can facilitate access to the appropriate health care service if necessary. We know what’s normal and not so normal!
🍁I enjoy the piecing together of each individual case! No two individuals (even with the same diagnosis) are the same to treat. For me, osteopathy is all about a patient centred approach to health.
