Human history has seen a number of inventions like nuclear energy, plastics or pesticides that are both beneficial and extremely harmful. Some technologies that provide enormous benefits for the survival of the human race also contain a great power of destruction. Street artist Hasan Alveroğlu began to reflect on this contradiction after witnessing the destruction caused by the explosion of 2750 tons of ammonium nitrate in the Port of Beirut in 2020. The contradictory nature of the compound used to make both bombs and fertilizers parallels the story of graffiti, which, after years of suppression as a symbol of rebellion, poverty and danger, first moved into the field of art with magnificent exhibitions and then to the commercial world with brand collaborations. Alveroğlu brings a unique take on this duality by recreating the found industrial production parts in his sculptures with the language of graffiti.
