Have you seen our wing-tagged white ibis? Tagged in Adelaide, Brisbane, & Sydney - of course, they move so you may see one anywhere in Australia or PNG - that’d be cool👍👍👍 Report using the Big City Birds app or website: /bigcitybirds/info - link in bio Your reports inform our understanding of survival, nesting, habitat use, & population connectivity. Projects with City of Moreton Bay, University of the Sunshine Coast, South Australian Department of Environment and Water, Ecosure - Thriving global ecosystems. #ibis #binchicken #whiteibis #wingtags @wingtags #birds

Please report Cockatoo bin-opening, including if you haven’t seen this behaviour. The survey takes 1-3 minutes. Your reports help us map this behaviour - thanks! /annual-bin-opening-survey - link in bio This research has shown that this behaviour is: spreading; neighbouring flocks have different methods; & and that the larger adult males predominantly open bins. Research by The Clever Cockie Project at ANU, part of the Big City Birds project. #bigcitybirds #clevercockieproject #wingtags @scienceanu

Meet Alec Tura, wing-tag 012 yellow from the Big City Birds citizen science project (download the app). Reporting sightings - as Cath H. did (thanks!*) - provides information on: 1. survival, 2. movements, 3. site loyalty (lack of movement), 4. behaviour (eg breeding). The Big City Birds project asks behavioural questions: foraging, bird sex & age, reproduction, number of birds. Your reports increase our understanding of birds adaptations to urban areas. We contrast this information with reports from non-urban areas. /bigcitybirds/info *Image editing deleted the beak. #bigcitybirds #brushturkey #wingtags
