🍋3 tips for making your mini lemon tree into a bonsai…or just successfully growing citrus in a pot👇 Sandy soil: citrus likes drainage more than anything! Use a cactus mix and ammend with 30-40% horticultural sand. Water: now your tree has excellent drainage you can water more often, and very deeply. The roots will take up the water they need and the rest will drain away quickly which will promote healthy flowers, foliage & fruit. Bonsai style: to achieve that rugged tree aesthetic, gradually brush away soil from the top revealing the roots. They will harden when exposed to air and you will begin seeing that gnarled root look. Be patient! The pink lemon has been in training for 4 years already. This time the trunk has been getting thick (but not tall due to being constrained to the pot) and a curve has been gently molded into the trunk using wire. Leave a 🍋 in the comments if you’re excited about the idea of a bonsai lemon tree 🌳 Want to learn more? 💦The big question: how to water your houseplants⁉️ 💧 Soak ‘em!! But make sure you have drainage. You want to completely saturate the soil when you water but allow excess to drain away. Did you know that plant roots need oxygen? It’s actually the lack of air in the soil that causes root rot and ultimately plant loss 🪴 💦Every plant needs a different frequency of watering so a snake plant will only want to be watered every month while a peace lily every week - but both need to be thoroughly and deeply watered. Still wondering how to water properly? Ask us in the comments! #houseplantcare #easyhouseplants #houseplantlove #easycareplants #indoorgreen #indoorplants #gardentips #houseplanttips

Good morning, friends! 💐 I want to show you my favorite way to add a little touch of the garden to a favorite dessert, and it couldn’t be easier than using something as simple as these mini store-bought cupcakes. The prettiest and most charming flowers in my garden right now are these Edible Pansies from @armstronggarden  . They can add that ‘wow’ factor to any plate. Pansies like this make it so easy to add fresh, edible blooms to your baked goods, salads and charcuterie, because they just keep blooming and blooming! Pansies have a pretty mild flavor, and even if you’re not interested in eating them, you can still include these edible violas as a garnish. 🌸Here are a few other beautiful ways to use fresh pansy flowers: 🌸Press them into soft cheeses 🌸Use them to garnish deviled eggs 🌸Bake them into tea cookies 🌸Make candied pansies 🌸Freeze them into ice cubes with other edible flowers 🌸Add to the top of a salad after tossing     #gardenflowers #gardenersworld #edibleflowers #armstronggarden #tablescapes  #tablescape  #cozyhome   #tabletop  #tabledecor  #springtablescape  #setthetable  #shabbychic  #cottagegarden   #cottageliving   #mycountryhome  #countrycottage
