I hate boats 🛥️
There I said it. Even though they look like a dream, you’re immersed with nature. Spending more than 2 hours in a boat in the middle of the ocean isn’t my ideal version of fun. There’s relentless rocking, sea sickness, the feeling of not feeling grounded. Being vulnerable to whatever the weather may bring.
So when my dad (who loves all things oceans and had a career spending his days on a boat and diving) invited us on a sailing trip around the south Great Barrier Reef, it was with great hesitation that I gave it go.
There was sea sickness, 3 metre waves for 5 hours where I thought I was going to die, 2 metre long tiger sharks, waking up at 3am to big swells, lack of protection from the wind, as we tried hide between the sand caves of.

Yet, there was incredible snorkelling with sharks, rays and turtles, the bluest water I’ve ever seen, untouched islands, where not another person was in sight. The clearest starry night that I EVER seen. Laughter and memory making with family and most of all - an adventure of a lifetime.
Here’s a few snaps 📸
