🦓 Whenever I talk to someone about going to therapy, the usual response tends to be something like ”I’m so sorry to hear that”, general awkwardness, or various alternatives of ”oh no, why?” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🦓 Those responses always catch me off guard. People tend to assume that going to therapy automatically means that you’re in a very dark place mentally - and this way of thinking discourages so many people from going to therapy, because they don’t feel ”unwell” enough. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🦓 Or, on the other hand, even if someone IS in a dark place AND is actively choosing to seek help, why on earth would you feel sorry for them? 👀 Isn’t it awesome that they’re working on themselves? Isn’t that something to be proud of? (rhetorical question; it IS awesome.) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🦓 I’d love to hear your thoughts on this! What’s the ideal response you’d like to hear from people? Any awkward moments when talking about your therapy journey? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ———————— 🧠 want more? click the link in my bio to find a therapist, unlock additional content, and find mental health resources. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Therapy if it's private and not for entertainment and if people spent less time being bullies then noone would need therapy. It's a chain reaction and to be honest my therapist is me.

I believe people would love to hear the latter because if someone is in a dark place and seeking therapy these little compliments come off as support and can help the person feel good for taking a step towards healing themselves. ❤️ Thank you! for sharing awareness. We need more pages like these that help us recognize our own toxic patterns; they help us break the vicious circle. 💯❤️

The first best investment I did to my daughter was find a amazing therapist… I wasn’t doing this just for her but for myself too… because I couldn’t afford to pay for 2 treatments, but, since my traumas was passed to her, I had decided to break that cycle… so, not just she is doing great, but also I was benefited … I killed to birds with one stone, because the therapist worked with both of us to be able to heal her. I am so grateful.
