Is stress consuming you? In today's world, there is a lot to be stressed about and it's very easy to become overwhelmed with it all. Stress doesn't manifest and present itself the same way for everyone. Stress can present itself in the form of physical, cognitive, behavioral, and/or emotional symptoms. Sadly, there is no way to avoid stress completely. However, you can control how you respond to stress which plays a significant role in the severity of stress symptoms. You can combat stress by moving your body with regular exercise. Exercise has been proven to improve mood, decrease levels of stress hormones within the body, and increase "happy" hormones. Spending time with others can alleviate stress. Having someone to talk to and/or take your mind off of your stress can help you bring yourself back down to a more relaxed state to be able to better handle your stress. Breathing exercises are very beneficial during times of stress. You can close your eyes, breathe in for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 3 seconds, and breathe out for 4 seconds. Repeat this breathing exercise as many times as you need. We also offer a free guide to managing stress. This guide is an excellent resource that can help you to identify and address your stress with action steps that you can take immediately to lower your stress and anxiety levels.
